Then Miriam the prophetess, the sister of Aaron, took the timbrel in her hand; and all the women went out after her with timbrels and with dances.

When Jephthah came to his house at Mizpah, there was his daughter, coming out to meet him with timbrels and dancing; and she [was his] only child. Besides her he had neither son nor daughter.

"and watch; and just when the daughters of Shiloh come out to perform their dances, then come out from the vineyards, and every man catch a wife for himself from the daughters of Shiloh; then go to the land of Benjamin.

You have turned for me my mourning into dancing; You have put off my sackcloth and clothed me with gladness,

Let them praise His name with the dance; Let them sing praises to Him with the timbrel and harp.

Praise Him with the timbrel and dance; Praise Him with stringed instruments and flutes!

"Now his older son was in the field. And as he came and drew near to the house, he heard music and dancing.

"You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength.

Whatever your hand finds to do, do [it] with your might; for [there is] no work or device or knowledge or wisdom in the grave where you are going.

And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men,

But Samuel ministered before the LORD, [even as] a child, wearing a linen ephod.

'Did I not choose him out of all the tribes of Israel [to be] My priest, to offer upon My altar, to burn incense, and to wear an ephod before Me? And did I not give to the house of your father all the offerings of the children of Israel made by fire?

And the king said to Doeg, "You turn and kill the priests!" So Doeg the Edomite turned and struck the priests, and killed on that day eighty-five men who wore a linen ephod.

David was clothed with a robe of fine linen, as were all the Levites who bore the ark, the singers, and Chenaniah the music master [with] the singers. David also wore a linen ephod.
