And when all the people came to persuade David to eat food while it was still day, David took an oath, saying, "God do so to me, and more also, if I taste bread or anything else till the sun goes down!"

"And say to Amasa, '[Are] you not my bone and my flesh? God do so to me, and more also, if you are not commander of the army before me continually in place of Joab.' "

Where you die, I will die, And there will I be buried. The LORD do so to me, and more also, If [anything but] death parts you and me."

And he said, "What [is] the word that [the] [Lord] spoke to you? Please do not hide [it] from me. God do so to you, and more also, if you hide anything from me of all the things that He said to you."

And Saul answered, "God do so and more also; for you shall surely die, Jonathan."

"May God do so, and more also, to the enemies of David, if I leave one male of all who [belong] to him by morning light."

Then Jezebel sent a messenger to Elijah, saying, "So let the gods do [to me,] and more also, if I do not make your life as the life of one of them by tomorrow about this time."

So Samuel said to him, "The LORD has torn the kingdom of Israel from you today, and has given it to a neighbor of yours, [who is] better than you.

Now the LORD said to Samuel, "How long will you mourn for Saul, seeing I have rejected him from reigning over Israel? Fill your horn with oil, and go; I am sending you to Jesse the Bethlehemite. For I have provided Myself a king among his sons."

"Then invite Jesse to the sacrifice, and I will show you what you shall do; you shall anoint for Me the one I name to you."

And he said, "Peaceably; I have come to sacrifice to the LORD. Sanctify yourselves, and come with me to the sacrifice." Then he consecrated Jesse and his sons, and invited them to the sacrifice.

But the LORD said to Samuel, "Do not look at his appearance or at the height of his stature, because I have refused him. For [the] [Lord does] not [see] as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart."

Then Jesse made Shammah pass by. And he said, "Neither has the LORD chosen this one."

And Samuel said to Jesse, "Are all the young men here?" Then he said, "There remains yet the youngest, and there he is, keeping the sheep." And Samuel said to Jesse, "Send and bring him. For we will not sit down till he comes here."

Then Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the midst of his brothers; and the Spirit of the LORD came upon David from that day forward. So Samuel arose and went to Ramah.

"And the LORD has done for Himself as He spoke by me. For the LORD has torn the kingdom out of your hand and given it to your neighbor, David.

Now these [were] the numbers of the divisions [that were] equipped for war, [and] came to David at Hebron to turn [over] the kingdom of Saul to him, according to the word of the LORD:

"I have made a covenant with My chosen, I have sworn to My servant David:

'Your seed I will establish forever, And build up your throne to all generations.' " Selah

Then You spoke in a vision to Your holy one, And said: "I have given help to [one who is] mighty; I have exalted one chosen from the people.

I have found My servant David; With My holy oil I have anointed him,

Once I have sworn by My holiness; I will not lie to David:

It shall be established forever like the moon, Even [like] the faithful witness in the sky." Selah
