But when his brothers saw that their father loved him more than all his brothers, they hated him and could not speak peaceably to him.

Then he said, "Who made you a prince and a judge over us? Do you intend to kill me as you killed the Egyptian?" So Moses feared and said, "Surely this thing is known!"

But some rebels said, "How can this man save us?" So they despised him, and brought him no presents. But he held his peace.

Now Eliab his oldest brother heard when he spoke to the men; and Eliab's anger was aroused against David, and he said, "Why did you come down here? And with whom have you left those few sheep in the wilderness? I know your pride and the insolence of your heart, for you have come down to see the battle."

"Let us break Their bonds in pieces And cast away Their cords from us."

Then He shall speak to them in His wrath, And distress them in His deep displeasure:

The stone [which] the builders rejected Has become the chief cornerstone.

"But his citizens hated him, and sent a delegation after him, saying, 'We will not have this [man] to reign over us.'

Then He looked at them and said, "What then is this that is written: 'The stone which the builders rejected Has become the chief cornerstone'?

"For truly against Your holy Servant Jesus, whom You anointed, both Herod and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles and the people of Israel, were gathered together

"to do whatever Your hand and Your purpose determined before to be done.

"This Moses whom they rejected, saying, 'Who made you a ruler and a judge?' is the one God sent [to be] a ruler and a deliverer by the hand of the Angel who appeared to him in the bush.

Of how much worse punishment, do you suppose, will he be thought worthy who has trampled the Son of God underfoot, counted the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified a common thing, and insulted the Spirit of grace?
