Then he said: "Cursed [be] Canaan; A servant of servants He shall be to his brethren."

And he said: "Blessed [be] the LORD, The God of Shem, And may Canaan be his servant.

"blessing I will bless you, and multiplying I will multiply your descendants as the stars of the heaven and as the sand which [is] on the seashore; and your descendants shall possess the gate of their enemies.

"In your seed all the nations of the earth shall be blessed, because you have obeyed My voice."

"Judah, you [are he] whom your brothers shall praise; Your hand [shall be] on the neck of your enemies; Your father's children shall bow down before you.

The scepter shall not depart from Judah, Nor a lawgiver from between his feet, Until Shiloh comes; And to Him [shall be] the obedience of the people.

After this it came to pass that David attacked the Philistines and subdued them. And David took Metheg Ammah from the hand of the Philistines.

David also defeated Hadadezer the son of Rehob, king of Zobah, as he went to recover his territory at the River Euphrates.

When the Syrians of Damascus came to help Hadadezer king of Zobah, David killed twenty-two thousand of the Syrians.

And David took the shields of gold that had belonged to the servants of Hadadezer, and brought them to Jerusalem.

When Toi king of Hamath heard that David had defeated all the army of Hadadezer,

King David also dedicated these to the LORD, along with the silver and gold that he had dedicated from all the nations which he had subdued --

And David made [himself] a name when he returned from killing eighteen thousand Syrians in the Valley of Salt.

So David reigned over all Israel; and David administered judgment and justice to all his people.

Zadok the son of Ahitub and Ahimelech the son of Abiathar [were] the priests; Seraiah [was] the scribe;

It happened after this that the king of the people of Ammon died, and Hanun his son reigned in his place.

And the princes of the people of Ammon said to Hanun their lord, "Do you think that David really honors your father because he has sent comforters to you? Has David not [rather] sent his servants to you to search the city, to spy it out, and to overthrow it?"

When they told David, he sent to meet them, because the men were greatly ashamed. And the king said, "Wait at Jericho until your beards have grown, and [then] return."

Now when David heard [of it,] he sent Joab and all the army of the mighty men.

When Joab saw that the battle line was against him before and behind, he chose some of Israel's best and put [them] in battle array against the Syrians.

Then he said, "If the Syrians are too strong for me, then you shall help me; but if the people of Ammon are too strong for you, then I will come and help you.

So Joab and the people who [were] with him drew near for the battle against the Syrians, and they fled before him.

When the Syrians saw that they had been defeated by Israel, they gathered together.

When it was told David, he gathered all Israel, crossed over the Jordan, and came to Helam. And the Syrians set themselves in battle array against David and fought with him.

And when all the kings [who were] servants to Hadadezer saw that they were defeated by Israel, they made peace with Israel and served them. So the Syrians were afraid to help the people of Ammon anymore.

So Solomon reigned over all kingdoms from the River [to] the land of the Philistines, as far as the border of Egypt. [They] brought tribute and served Solomon all the days of his life.

"Yet I have set My King On My holy hill of Zion."

Ask of Me, and I will give [You] The nations [for] Your inheritance, And the ends of the earth [for] Your possession.

He shall have dominion also from sea to sea, And from the River to the ends of the earth.

Of the increase of [His] government and peace [There will be] no end, Upon the throne of David and over His kingdom, To order it and establish it with judgment and justice From that time forward, even forever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.

"And in the days of these kings the God of heaven will set up a kingdom which shall never be destroyed; and the kingdom shall not be left to other people; it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand forever.

"Inasmuch as you saw that the stone was cut out of the mountain without hands, and that it broke in pieces the iron, the bronze, the clay, the silver, and the gold -- the great God has made known to the king what will come to pass after this. The dream is certain, and its interpretation is sure."

And He has on [His] robe and on His thigh a name written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.

Then Isaac answered and said to Esau, "Indeed I have made him your master, and all his brethren I have given to him as servants; with grain and wine I have sustained him. What shall I do now for you, my son?"

But the children struggled together within her; and she said, "If [all is] well, why [am I like] this?" So she went to inquire of the LORD.

And the LORD said to her:"Two nations [are] in your womb, Two peoples shall be separated from your body; [One] people shall be stronger than the other, And the older shall serve the younger."

Then Jacob said, "Swear to me as of this day." So he swore to him, and sold his birthright to Jacob.

He also put garrisons in Edom; throughout all Edom he put garrisons, and all the Edomites became David's servants. And the LORD preserved David wherever he went.

For it happened, when David was in Edom, and Joab the commander of the army had gone up to bury the slain, after he had killed every male in Edom

(because for six months Joab remained there with all Israel, until he had cut down every male in Edom),

[There was] then no king in Edom, only a deputy of the king.

yet Judah prevailed over his brothers, and from him [came] a ruler, although the birthright was Joseph's --

Then Amaziah strengthened himself, and leading his people, he went to the Valley of Salt and killed ten thousand of the people of Seir.

But as for the soldiers of the army which Amaziah had discharged, so that they would not go with him to battle, they raided the cities of Judah from Samaria to Beth Horon, killed three thousand in them, and took much spoil.

When he fought against Mesopotamia and Syria of Zobah, and Joab returned and killed twelve thousand Edomites in the Valley of Salt. O God, You have cast us off; You have broken us down; You have been displeased; Oh, restore us again!

You have shown Your people hard things; You have made us drink the wine of confusion.

That Your beloved may be delivered, Save [with] Your right hand, and hear me.

Gilead [is] Mine, and Manasseh [is] Mine; Ephraim also [is] the helmet for My head; Judah [is] My lawgiver.

Who will bring me [to] the strong city? Who will lead me to Edom?

Give us help from trouble, For the help of man [is] useless.

You have made the earth tremble; You have broken it; Heal its breaches, for it is shaking.

You have given a banner to those who fear You, That it may be displayed because of the truth. Selah

God has spoken in His holiness: "I will rejoice; I will divide Shechem And measure out the Valley of Succoth.

Moab [is] My washpot; Over Edom I will cast My shoe; Philistia, shout in triumph because of Me."

[Is it] not You, O God, [who] cast us off? And You, O God, [who] did not go out with our armies?

Through God we will do valiantly, For [it is] He [who] shall tread down our enemies.

Who [is] this who comes from Edom, With dyed garments from Bozrah, This [One who is] glorious in His apparel, Traveling in the greatness of His strength? -- "I who speak in righteousness, mighty to save."

" I have trodden the winepress alone, And from the peoples no one [was] with Me. For I have trodden them in My anger, And trampled them in My fury; Their blood is sprinkled upon My garments, And I have stained all My robes.

I looked, but [there was] no one to help, And I wondered That [there was] no one to uphold; Therefore My own arm brought salvation for Me; And My own fury, it sustained Me.

" I have loved you," says the LORD. "Yet you say, 'In what way have You loved us?' [Was] not Esau Jacob's brother?" Says the LORD. "Yet Jacob I have loved;

Even though Edom has said, "We have been impoverished, But we will return and build the desolate places," Thus says the LORD of hosts: "They may build, but I will throw down; They shall be called the Territory of Wickedness, And the people against whom the LORD will have indignation forever.

it was said to her, "The older shall serve the younger."

I will bless those who bless you, And I will curse him who curses you; And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed."

'Look, a people has come out of Egypt, and they cover the face of the earth. Come now, curse them for me; perhaps I shall be able to overpower them and drive them out.' "

And God said to Balaam, "You shall not go with them; you shall not curse the people, for they [are] blessed."

"How shall I curse whom God has not cursed? And how shall I denounce [whom] the LORD has not denounced?

'He bows down, he lies down as a lion; And as a lion, who shall rouse him?' "Blessed [is] he who blesses you, And cursed [is] he who curses you."

" I have heard the reproach of Moab, And the insults of the people of Ammon, With which they have reproached My people, And made arrogant threats against their borders.

Therefore, as I live," Says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, "Surely Moab shall be like Sodom, And the people of Ammon like Gomorrah -- Overrun with weeds and saltpits, And a perpetual desolation. The residue of My people shall plunder them, And the remnant of My people shall possess them."

"And the King will answer and say to them, 'Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did [it] to one of the least of these My brethren, you did [it] to Me.'

"Then He will answer them, saying, 'Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did not do [it] to one of the least of these, you did not do [it] to Me.'
