Then Samuel said: "Has the LORD [as great] delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, As in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, [And] to heed than the fat of rams.

He shall deliver you in six troubles, Yes, in seven no evil shall touch you.

"(they have also built the high places of Baal, to burn their sons with fire [for] burnt offerings to Baal, which I did not command or speak, nor did it come into My mind),

With what shall I come before the LORD, [And] bow myself before the High God? Shall I come before Him with burnt offerings, With calves a year old?

He has shown you, O man, what [is] good; And what does the LORD require of you But to do justly, To love mercy, And to walk humbly with your God?

No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God [is] faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear [it.]

For if there is first a willing mind, [it is] accepted according to what one has, [and] not according to what he does not have.

concluding that God [was] able to raise [him] up, even from the dead, from which he also received him in a figurative sense.

And Abraham said, "Because I thought, surely the fear of God [is] not in this place; and they will kill me on account of my wife.

"because Abraham obeyed My voice and kept My charge, My commandments, My statutes, and My laws."

Then Joseph said to them the third day, "Do this and live, [for] I fear God:

And Moses said to the people, "Do not fear; for God has come to test you, and that His fear may be before you, so that you may not sin."

"Only fear the LORD, and serve Him in truth with all your heart; for consider what great things He has done for you.

"But if you still do wickedly, you shall be swept away, both you and your king."

Then Samuel said: "Has the LORD [as great] delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, As in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, [And] to heed than the fat of rams.

But the former governors who [were] before me laid burdens on the people, and took from them bread and wine, besides forty shekels of silver. Yes, even their servants bore rule over the people, but I did not do so, because of the fear of God.

And to man He said, 'Behold, the fear of the Lord, that [is] wisdom, And to depart from evil [is] understanding.' "

For the LORD knows the way of the righteous, But the way of the ungodly shall perish.

Serve the LORD with fear, And rejoice with trembling.

Who [is] the man that fears the LORD? Him shall He teach in the way He chooses.

The secret of the LORD [is] with those who fear Him, And He will show them His covenant.

The fear of the LORD [is] the beginning of wisdom; A good understanding have all those who do [His commandments.] His praise endures forever.

Praise the LORD! Blessed [is] the man [who] fears the LORD, [Who] delights greatly in His commandments.

The LORD takes pleasure in those who fear Him, In those who hope in His mercy.

The fear of the LORD [is] the beginning of knowledge, [But] fools despise wisdom and instruction.

Though a sinner does evil a hundred [times,] and his [days] are prolonged, yet I surely know that it will be well with those who fear God, who fear before Him.

But it will not be well with the wicked; nor will he prolong [his] days, [which are] as a shadow, because he does not fear before God.

Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God and keep His commandments, For this is man's all.

'And I will make an everlasting covenant with them, that I will not turn away from doing them good; but I will put My fear in their hearts so that they will not depart from Me.

But to you who fear My name The Sun of Righteousness shall arise With healing in His wings; And you shall go out And grow fat like stall-fed calves.

"Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.

"He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me. And he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me.

"And he who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me.

Then Jesus said to His disciples, "If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me.

"And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or lands, for My name's sake, shall receive a hundredfold, and inherit eternal life.

Then the churches throughout all Judea, Galilee, and Samaria had peace and were edified. And walking in the fear of the Lord and in the comfort of the Holy Spirit, they were multiplied.

Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us have grace, by which we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear.

But someone will say, "You have faith, and I have works." Show me your faith without your works, and I will show you my faith by my works.

Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered Isaac his son on the altar?

Do you see that faith was working together with his works, and by works faith was made perfect?

Then a voice came from the throne, saying, "Praise our God, all you His servants and those who fear Him, both small and great!"

"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?

In this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him.

In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son [to be] the propitiation for our sins.
