And the men of Israel took some of their provisions; but they did not ask at the mouth of Jehovah.

He who is slow to wrath is of great understanding, but he who is impatient exalts folly.

He who is slow to anger is better than the mighty, and he who rules his spirit than he who takes a city.

Also for the soul to be without knowledge is not good, and he who hurries with his feet sins.

The prudence of a man puts off his anger; and it is his glory to sweep aside a transgression.

Do not be quick to start a quarrel, lest you know not what to do in the end of it, when your neighbor has put you to shame.

So then, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath;

And it happened afterward that David's heart smote him because he had cut off Saul's skirt.

But David pursued, he and four hundred men; for two hundred stayed behind, who had become too exhausted to cross over the Brook Besor.

And David came to the two hundred men who had become too exhausted to go after David, whom they also had made to stay at the Brook Besor. So they went out to meet David and to meet the people with him. And when David came near the people, he asked after their welfare.

But David said, My brethren, you shall not do so with what Jehovah has given to us, who has preserved us and delivered into our hand the troop that came against us into our hand.
