For he took his soul in his own hands and killed the Philistine, and Jehovah brought about a great deliverance for all Israel. You saw it and rejoiced. Why then would you sin against innocent blood, to kill David without a cause?

If you refrain from delivering those being led away to death, those about to die;

if you say, Behold, we did not know it; does not He who ponders the heart consider it? And the Keeper of your soul, does He not know it? And shall He not repay to a man according to his deeds?

Open your mouth for the mute, for the judgment of all those sentenced to destruction.

Open your mouth, judge righteously, and plead the case of the poor and needy.

Does our Law judge a man before it hears him and knows what he does?

And the governor said, Why, what evil has He done? But they cried out all the more, saying, Let Him be crucified!

Then he said to them the third time, Why, what evil has He done? I have found no reason for death in Him. I will therefore chastise Him and let Him go.

And Saul threw the spear, for he thought, I will strike David to the wall! But David turned away from his presence twice.

And Saul sought to strike David to the wall with the spear, but he escaped away from Saul's presence; and he struck the spear into the wall. So David fled and escaped that night.

Saul also sent messengers to David's house to watch him and to kill him in the morning. And Michal, David's wife, informed him, saying, If you do not deliver your soul tonight, tomorrow you will be killed.

Make no friendship with an angry man; and do not go with a man of fury,

This is an evil among all things that are done under the sun, that there is one event to all. Yea, also the heart of the sons of men is full of evil, and madness is in their heart while they live, and after that they go to the dead.

The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked; who can know it?

If he says thus: Good, your servant will be safe. But if he burns with fury, then know that evil is determined by him.

Do not be hasty in your spirit to be angry; for anger rests in the bosom of fools.
