Therefore you shall deal kindly with your servant, for you have brought your servant into a covenant of Jehovah with you. However, if there is iniquity in me, kill me yourself, for why should you bring me to your father?

So Saul listened to the voice of Jonathan, and Saul swore, As Jehovah lives, he shall not be killed.

Saul also sent messengers to David's house to watch him and to kill him in the morning. And Michal, David's wife, informed him, saying, If you do not deliver your soul tonight, tomorrow you will be killed.

And Michal took an image and laid it in the bed, put a quilt of goats' hair at the head, and covered it with clothes.

And Saul sent the messengers back to see David, saying, Bring him up to me in the bed, to kill him.

This thing that you have done is not good. As Jehovah lives, you are sons of death, because you have not guarded your master, the anointed of Jehovah. And now see where the king's spear is, and the jug of water that was by his head.

For all my father's house were but dead men before my lord the king. Yet you set your servant among those who eat at your own table. Therefore what right have I still to cry out anymore to the king?

Let the groaning of the prisoner come before You; according to the greatness of Your power preserve alive the children of death;
