And Joshua tore his clothes, and fell to the earth on his face before the ark of Jehovah until evening, he and the elders of Israel; and they threw dust on their heads.

And a man of Benjamin ran from the battle line the same day, and came to Shiloh with his clothes torn and earth on his head.

And Tamar put ashes on her head, and tore her tunic of many colors that was on her, and laid her hand on her head and went away, crying out as she went.

Now on the twenty-fourth day of this month the children of Israel were assembled with fasting, in sackcloth, and earth upon them.

And when they lifted up their eyes from afar, and did not recognize him, they lifted up their voices and wept; and each one tore his robe and sprinkled dust on their heads toward the heavens.

They will make their voice heard because of you; they will cry bitterly and cast dust on their heads; they will wallow in ashes;

standing at a distance because of the terror of her torment, saying, Alas, alas, that great city Babylon, that mighty city! For in one hour your judgment has come.

The merchants of these things, who became rich by her, will stand at a distance because of the terror of her torment, weeping and wailing,

and saying, Alas, alas, that great city that was clothed in fine linen, purple, and scarlet, and adorned with gold and precious stones and pearls!

Therefore her plagues will come in one day; death and mourning and famine. And she will be consumed with fire, for strong is the Lord God who judges her.
