Therefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and rest your hope fully upon the grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;

But the end of all things is at hand; therefore be of sound mind and calm in your prayers.

But if that wicked servant says in his heart, My master delays his coming,

the master of that servant will come on a day when he is not expecting him and in an hour he does not know,

But if that servant says in his heart, My master is delaying his coming, and begins to beat the male and female servants, and to eat and drink and be drunk,

the master of that servant will come on a day when he is not expecting him, and at an hour he does not know, and will cut him apart and appoint him his portion with the unbelievers.

But take heed to yourselves, lest your hearts be weighed down with giddiness, drunkenness, and cares of this life, and that Day come upon you unexpectedly.

Watch therefore, and pray always that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that will come to pass, and to stand before the Son of Man.

And do this, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep; for now our salvation is nearer than when we first believed.

Let us walk decently, as in the day, not in carousings and drunkenness, not in cohabitation and licentiousness, not in strife and envy.

Therefore let us not sleep, as others do, but let us watch and be sober.

But let us who are of the day be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love, and as a helmet the hope of salvation.

in like manner also, that the women adorn themselves in appropriate apparel, with propriety and moderation, not with braided hair or gold or pearls or costly clothing,

Nevertheless she will be kept safe through childbearing if they continue in faith, love, and holiness, with self-control.

An overseer then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, temperate, sober- minded, well ordered, hospitable, able to teach;

Likewise women must be reverent, not slanderers, temperate, faithful in all things.

but hospitable, a lover of what is good, of a sound mind, just, holy, self-controlled,

that the older men be sober, reverent, temperate, sound in faith, in love, in patience;

that they admonish the young women to love their husbands, to love their children,

Likewise exhort the young men to be of sound mind,

teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live with sound mind, righteously, and godly in the present age,

Put on all the armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

And he said: Jehovah will roar from Zion and utter His voice from Jerusalem. And the pastures of the shepherds shall mourn, and the top of Carmel shall dry up.

Will a lion roar in the forest when there is no prey for him? Will a young lion cry out of his den unless he has caught something?

A lion has roared! Who will not fear? The Lord Jehovah has spoken! Who can but prophesy?

A voice of the wailing of the shepherds; for their splendor is destroyed. A voice of the roaring of young lions; for the pride of Jordan is destroyed.

But the Lord stood with me and strengthened me, so that the preaching of the message might be fulfilled through me, and that all the Gentiles might hear. And I was delivered out of the mouth of the lion.

Therefore rejoice, O Heavens, and you who dwell in them! Woe to the inhabitants of the earth and the sea! For the devil has come down to you, having great wrath, because he knows that he has a short time left.

The conspiracy of her prophets in her midst is like a roaring lion tearing the prey; they have devoured souls; they have taken treasure and precious things; they have made many widows in her midst.

And the king commanded, and they brought those men who had accused Daniel. And they threw them into the den of lions, them, their sons and their wives. And the lions overpowered them and crushed all their bones before they ever reached the bottom of the den.

I will meet them like a bereaved bear, and I will tear open the carcass to their heart; and like a lion, I will devour them there; the beasts of the field shall tear them.
