the king of Jericho, one; the king of Ai, which is beside Bethel, one;

And he moved from there to the mountain east of Bethel, and he pitched his tent with Bethel toward the sea and Ai on the east. There he built an altar unto Jehovah and called upon the name of Jehovah.

Also the children of Benjamin from Geba dwelt in Michmash, Aija, and Bethel, and their villages;

Their border on the north side began at the Jordan, and the border went up alongside Jericho on the north, and went up through the mountains westward; it ended at the wilderness of Beth Aven.

And he called the name of that place Bethel; but the name of that city had formerly been Luz.

Israel, though you commit fornication, do not let Judah become guilty. And do not come to Gilgal, nor go up to Beth-aven, nor swear, As Jehovah lives.

And Joshua the son of Nun sent out two men from Shittim to spy secretly, saying, Go, view the land, especially Jericho. So they went, and came to the house of a harlot woman named Rahab, and lodged there.

Plans are established by counsel; and wage war with good advice.

For by wise counsel you shall wage war; and in a multitude of counselors is safety.

Behold, I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves. Therefore be wise as serpents and harmless as doves.

See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise,
