Then the commander came near and took him, and commanded him to be bound with two chains; and he asked who he was and what he had done.

For this reason therefore I have called for you, to see you and speak with you, because for the hope of Israel I am bound with this chain.

The Lord grant mercy to the household of Onesiphorus, for he often refreshed me, and was not ashamed of my chain;

for which I suffer trouble as an evildoer, even to the point of bonds; but the Word of God is not bound.

Blessed are you when they shall revile and persecute you, and shall say every evil word against you falsely because of Me.

Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in Heaven, for in this manner they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

So they departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for His name.

My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials,

Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves dig through and steal;

but lay up for yourselves treasures in Heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not dig through and steal.

Jesus said to him, If you want to be perfect, go, sell what you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in Heaven; and come, follow Me.

But one thing is needed, and Mary has chosen that good part, which will not be taken away from her.

Sell what you have and give alms; provide yourselves money bags which do not grow old, a treasure in Heaven that does not fail, where a thief does not come near nor moth destroys.

For we know that if our earthly house, this tent, is torn down, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in Heaven.

because of the hope being laid up for you in Heaven, of which you heard before in the Word of the Truth of the gospel,

Set your mind on things above, not on the things of the earth;

When Christ who is our life is revealed, then you also will be revealed with Him in glory.

storing up for themselves a good foundation for the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life.

Hereafter, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all the ones loving His appearing.

to an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled and that does not fade away, reserved in Heaven for you,

Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is.
