just as it is right for me to think this of you all, because I have you in my heart, inasmuch as both in my bonds and in the defense and confirmation of the gospel, you all are partakers with me of the grace.

Now I do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, that I often planned to come to you (but was prevented until now), that I might have some fruit among you also, just as among the other Gentiles.

So, as much as is in me, I am ready to preach the gospel to you who are in Rome also.

For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; even as it is written, The just shall live by faith.

For if I preach the gospel, there is no glory to me, for necessity is laid upon me; yes, woe is me if I do not preach the gospel.

For if I do this willingly, I have a reward; but if against my will, I have been entrusted with a stewardship.

But on the contrary, when they saw that the gospel for the uncircumcised had been committed to me, as the gospel for the circumcised was to Peter

(for He who worked effectively in Peter for the apostleship to the circumcised also worked effectively in me toward the Gentiles),

for which I was appointed a preacher and an apostle; I am speaking the truth in Christ and not lying; a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and truth.

to which I was appointed a preacher, an apostle, and a teacher of the Gentiles.

For this reason I also suffer these things; nevertheless I am not ashamed, for I know whom I have believed and am persuaded that He is able to keep safe what I have committed to Him until that Day.

For I am already being poured out as a drink offering, and the time of my departure is at hand.

I have fought the good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith.

Therefore settle it in your hearts not to premeditate a defense;

Brethren and fathers, hear my defense before you now.

Then Agrippa said to Paul, You are permitted to speak for yourself. So Paul stretched out his hand and answered for himself:

Now as he thus made his defense, Festus said with a loud voice, Paul, you are beside yourself! Much learning is driving you mad!

At my first defense no one stood with me, but all deserted me. May it not be reckoned against them.
