The day you stood before Jehovah your God in Horeb, Jehovah said to me, Gather the people to Me, and I will make them hear My Words, that they may learn to fear Me all the days that they live on the earth, and that they may teach their children.

And now, Israel, what is Jehovah your God asking of you, but to fear Jehovah your God, to walk in all His ways and to love Him, to serve Jehovah your God with all your heart and with all your soul,

and to keep the commandments of Jehovah and His statutes which I am commanding you today for your good.

You shall fear Jehovah your God; you shall serve Him, and cleave to Him, and you shall swear by His name.

You shall walk after Jehovah your God and fear Him, and keep His commandments and obey His voice, and you shall serve Him and cleave unto Him.

And He said, Do not lay your hand upon the lad, or do anything to him; for now I know that you fear God, since you have not withheld your son, your only one from Me.

And Moses said to the people, Do not fear; for God has come to test you, and that His fear may be before you, that you not sin.

And to man He said, Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom, and to depart from evil is understanding.

The fear of Jehovah is the beginning of wisdom; a good understanding have all those who do His commandments. His praise stands eternally.

i1 [A Song of Ascents.] i0 par Blessed is everyone who fears Jehovah, who walks in His ways.

By mercy and truth iniquity is purged, and by the fear of Jehovah men turn away from evil.

Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep His commandments; for this is for every man.

But I will show you whom you should fear: Fear Him who, after He has killed, has authority to cast into Gehenna; yes, I say to you, Fear Him!

And if you call on the Father, who without partiality judges according to each one's work, behave yourselves throughout the time of your sojourning in fear;

You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up.

For I have known him, in order that he may command his children and his house after him, that they may keep the way of Jehovah, to do righteousness and justice, that Jehovah may bring upon Abraham what He has spoken to him.

We will not hide them from their children, recounting to the following generation the praises of Jehovah, and His strength and His wonderful works that He has done.

that the following generation might know them, the children who would be born, that they might arise and recount them to their children,

and might not be like their fathers, a stubborn and rebellious generation, a generation that did not set its heart aright, and whose spirit has not been faithful to the Mighty God.

You shall therefore keep His statutes and His commandments which I am commanding you today, that it may be well with you and with your children after you, and that you may prolong your days in the land which Jehovah your God is giving you for all time.

Honor your father and your mother, as Jehovah your God has commanded you, that your days may be prolonged, and that it may be well with you in the land which Jehovah your God is giving to you.

You shall walk in all the ways which Jehovah your God has commanded you, that you may live and that it may be well with you, and that you may prolong your days in the land which you shall possess.

you shall let the mother go free, and take the young for yourself, that it may be well with you and that you may prolong your days.

My son, do not forget my law, but let your heart keep my commandments,

for they shall add length of days and long life and peace to you.

Length of days is in her right hand, riches and honor in her left hand.

For He who would love life and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips from speaking deceit.

Let him turn away from evil and do good; let him seek peace and pursue it.
