If a man has two wives, one loved and the other hated, and they have borne him children, both the loved and the hated, and if the firstborn son is of her who is hated,

If any man takes a wife, and goes in to her, and hates her,

If he takes another wife, he shall not diminish her food, her clothing, and her conjugal rights.

if the latter husband hates her and writes her a certificate of divorce, puts it in her hand, and sends her out of his house, or if the latter husband who took her as his wife dies,

And I saw, when for all the causes for which backsliding Israel committed adultery, I put her away and gave her a certificate of divorce; yet her treacherous sister Judah did not fear, but she also went and committed adultery.

Furthermore it has been said, Whoever puts away his wife, let him give her a certificate of divorce.

But I say to you that whoever puts away his wife for any reason except sexual perversion causes her to commit adultery; and whoever marries a woman who is divorced commits adultery.

They said to Him, Why then did Moses command to give a certificate of divorce, and to put her away?

And I say to you, whoever puts away his wife, except for sexual perversion, and marries another, commits adultery; and whoever marries her who is divorced commits adultery.

They said, Moses permitted a man to write a certificate of divorce, and to put her away.

But from the beginning of the creation, God made them male and female.

and the two shall become one flesh; so then they are no longer two, but one flesh.

In the house His disciples also asked Him again about the same matter.

And if a woman shall put away her husband and be married to another, she commits adultery.

Thus says Jehovah, Where is your mother's certificate of divorce, whom I have put away? Or to which of My creditors have I sold you? Behold, you have been sold for your iniquities, and your mother has been put away for your sins.

and they shall fine him one hundred shekels of silver and give them to the father of the young woman, because he has brought a bad name on a virgin of Israel. And she shall be his wife; he cannot put her away all his days.

then the man who lay with her shall give to the young woman's father fifty shekels of silver, and she shall be his wife because he has humbled her; he cannot put her away all his days.

For Jehovah the God of Israel, says that He hates divorce, and to cover violence with one's garment, says Jehovah of Hosts. Therefore take heed to your spirit and do not deal treacherously.

But Joseph her husband, being just, and not wanting to make her a public example, was minded to put her away secretly.

Whoever puts away his wife and marries another commits adultery; and whoever marries her who is put away from her husband commits adultery.

But, indeed, in case she does leave, let her remain unmarried or be reconciled to her husband. And a husband is not to send away his wife.

But to the rest I say, not the Lord: If any brother has an unbelieving wife, and she is willing to live with him, let him not send her away.
