And Jehovah said to Moses, When you go back to Egypt, see that you do all those wonders before Pharaoh which I have put in your hand. And I will harden his heart, so that he will not let the people go.

And Moses and Aaron did all these signs before Pharaoh; and Jehovah hardened Pharaoh's heart, and he did not let the children of Israel go out of his land.

But Sihon would not allow Israel to pass through his territory. And Sihon gathered all his people together and went out against Israel in the wilderness, and he came to Jahaz and fought against Israel.

There was not a city that made peace with the children of Israel, except the Hivites, the inhabitants of Gibeon. All the others they took in battle.

For it was of Jehovah to harden their hearts, that they should come against Israel in battle, that He might utterly destroy them, and that they might receive no mercy, but that He might destroy them, as Jehovah had commanded Moses.

For the Scripture says to Pharaoh, For this very purpose I have raised you up, that I might show My power in you, and that My name might be declared in all the earth.

You will say to me then, Why does He yet find fault? For who has resisted His will?

Does not the potter have authority over the clay, from the same lump to make one vessel unto honor and another unto dishonor?

and that He might make known the riches of His glory on vessels of mercy, which He had prepared beforehand unto glory,

because I knew that you are obstinate, and your neck is an iron sinew and your brow bronze.
