But whenever Moses went in before Jehovah to speak with Him, he took the veil off until he came out; and he came out and spoke to the children of Israel whatever he was commanded.

And whenever the children of Israel saw the face of Moses, that the skin of Moses' face shone, then Moses would put the veil on his face again, until he went in to speak with Him.

Deuteronomy 5:22-33

These words Jehovah has spoken to all your assembly, on the mountain from the midst of the fire, the cloud, and the thick darkness, with a loud voice; and He has added no more. And He wrote them on two tablets of stone and gave them to me.

And so it was, when you heard the voice from the midst of the darkness, while the mountain was burning with fire, that you came near to me, all the heads of your tribes and your elders.

And you said, Behold, Jehovah our God has shown us His glory and His greatness, and we have heard His voice from the midst of the fire. We have seen this day that God speaks with man, yet he lives.

Now therefore, why should we die? For this great fire will consume us; if we hear the voice of Jehovah our God anymore, then we shall die!

For who is there of all flesh who has heard the voice of the living God speaking from the midst of the fire, as we have, and lived?

You go near and hear all that Jehovah our God shall say, and you speak to us all that Jehovah our God shall speak to you; and we will hear and do it.

And Jehovah heard the voice of your words when you spoke to me, and Jehovah said to me: I have heard the voice of the words of this people which they have spoken to you. They have done well in all that they have spoken.

Oh, that this heart of theirs would be fully yielded, to fear Me and to keep all My commandments at all times, that it might be well with them and with their children forever!

Go and say to them, Return to your tents.

But as for you, stand here by Me, and I will speak to you all the commandments, the statutes, and the judgments which you shall teach them, that they may do them in the land which I am giving them to possess.

Therefore, take heed to do as Jehovah your God has commanded you; do not turn aside to the right hand or to the left.
33
You shall walk in all the ways which Jehovah your God has commanded you, that you may live and that it may be well with you, and that you may prolong your days in the land which you shall possess.
Deuteronomy 9:13-20

Furthermore Jehovah spoke to me, saying, I have seen this people, and behold, they are a stiff-necked people.
14
Let Me alone, that I may destroy them and blot out their name from under the heavens; and I will make of you a nation mightier and greater than they.
15
So I turned and came down from the mountain, and the mountain was burning with fire; and the two tablets of the covenant were in my two hands.
16
And I looked, and behold, you had sinned against Jehovah your God, and had made for yourselves a molten calf! You had turned aside quickly from the way which Jehovah had commanded you.

And I took the two tablets and threw them out of my two hands and broke them before your eyes.
18
And I fell down before Jehovah, as at the first, forty days and forty nights; I neither ate bread nor drank water, because of all your sin which you had sinned in doing evil in the eyes of Jehovah, to provoke Him to anger.

For I was afraid of the anger and fury with which Jehovah had been angry with you, to destroy you. But Jehovah gave heed to me at that time also.
20
And Jehovah was very angry with Aaron to have destroyed him; and I prayed for Aaron also at the same time.
Deuteronomy 9:25-29

Thus I prostrated myself before Jehovah; forty days and forty nights I kept prostrating myself, because Jehovah had thought to annihilate you.

Therefore I prayed to Jehovah, and said: O Lord Jehovah, do not destroy Your people and Your inheritance whom You have redeemed through Your greatness, whom You have brought out of Egypt with a mighty hand.
27
Remember Your servants, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob; do not look on the stubbornness of this people, or on their wickedness or their sin,
28
lest the land from which You have brought us should say, Because Jehovah was not able to bring them to the land which He promised them, and because He hated them, He has brought them out to kill them in the wilderness.

Yet they are Your people and Your inheritance, whom You have brought out by Your great power and by Your outstretched arm.
Deuteronomy 18:15-19

Jehovah your God will raise up for you a Prophet like me from your midst, from your brethren. Him you shall hear,

according to all that you desired of Jehovah your God in Horeb in the day of the assembly, saying, Let me not hear again the voice of Jehovah my God, nor let me see this great fire anymore, that I not die.

And Jehovah said to me: In that, they have spoken well.
18
I will raise up for them a Prophet like you from among their brethren, and will put My Words in His mouth, and He shall speak to them all that I command Him.

And it shall be that whoever will not give heed to My Words, which He speaks in My name, I will require it of him.
