And as they were saying these things, Jesus Himself stood in the midst of them, and said to them, Peace to you.

But they were terrified and frightened, and supposed they were seeing a ghost.

And He said to them, Why are you troubled? And why do reasonings arise in your hearts?
39
Behold My hands and My feet, that it is I Myself. Handle Me and see, for a ghost does not have flesh and bones as you see I have.

When He had said this, He showed them His hands and His feet.

But while they still did not believe for joy, and marveled, He said to them, Have you any food here?

So they gave Him a piece of a broiled fish and some honeycomb.

And He took it and ate in their presence.

Then He said to them, These are the words which I spoke to you while I was still with you, that all things must be fulfilled which were written in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms concerning Me.

And He opened their mind to understand the Scriptures.

And He said to them, Thus it is written, and thus it was necessary for the Christ to suffer and to rise from the dead the third day,

and that repentance and remission of sins be preached in His name to all nations, beginning out of Jerusalem.

And you are witnesses of these things.

Behold, I send the Promise of My Father upon you; but stay in the city of Jerusalem until you are clothed with power from on high.
John 20:19-26

Then, the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled, for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in the midst, and said to them, Peace to you.

And when He had said this, He showed them His hands and His side. Then the disciples rejoiced when they saw the Lord.

So Jesus said to them again, Peace to you. As the Father has sent Me, I also send you.

And when He had said this, He breathed on them, and said to them, Receive the Holy Spirit.

If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; whatever you lay hold upon, it is held fast.

until the day in which He was taken up, after He through the Holy Spirit had given commandments to the apostles whom He had chosen,

to whom He also presented Himself alive after His suffering by many infallible proofs, being seen by them during forty days and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God.

And being assembled together with them, He commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the Promise of the Father, which, He said, you have heard from Me;

for John truly immersed in water, but you shall be immersed in the Holy Spirit not many days from now.

Therefore, when they had come together, they asked Him, saying, Lord, will You at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?

And He said to them, It is not yours to know times or seasons which the Father has put in His own authority.

But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit is come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.

Now when He had spoken these things, while they watched, He was taken up, and a cloud received Him out of their sight.

And while they looked steadfastly toward heaven as He went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel,
11
who also said, Men of Galilee, why do you stand gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, who was taken up from you into Heaven, will so come in like manner as you have seen Him go into Heaven.

Then they returned to Jerusalem from the mount called Olivet, which is near Jerusalem, a Sabbath day's journey.

And when they had entered, they went up into the upper room where they were staying: Peter, Jacob, John, and Andrew; Philip and Thomas; Bartholomew and Matthew; Jacob of Alphaeus and Simon the Zealot; and Judas of Jacob.

These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with His brothers.
