because you may ascertain that it is no more than twelve days since I went up to Jerusalem to do homage.

Now when the seven days were almost ended, the Jews from Asia, seeing him in the temple, stirred up the whole crowd and laid hands on him,

And the high priest Ananias commanded those who stood by him to strike him on the mouth.

And when it was disclosed to me that the Jews were about to carry out a plot against the man, I sent him immediately to you, and also commanded his accusers to state before you the charges against him. Farewell.

he said, I will fully hear you when your accusers also have come. And he commanded him to be kept in Herod's Praetorium.

Then the high priest and the chief men of the Jews made a statement to him against Paul; and they petitioned him,

So on a set day Herod, arrayed in royal apparel, sat on his platform and gave an oration to them.

the commander of fifty and the honorable man; the counselor and the skilled magician; and the expert enchanter.

And I, brethren, when I came to you, did not come with excellence of speech or of wisdom declaring to you the Testimony of God.

And my speech and my preaching were not with enticing words of human wisdom, but in proof of the Spirit and of power,

Then the high priest and the chief men of the Jews made a statement to him against Paul; and they petitioned him,

about whom the chief priests and the elders of the Jews informed me, when I was in Jerusalem, asking for a judgment against him.

For lo, the wicked bend their bow; they make ready their arrow on the string, so that they may secretly shoot at the upright in heart.
