Men and brethren, this Scripture needed to be fulfilled, which the Holy Spirit spoke before by the mouth of David concerning Judas, who became a guide to those who took Jesus;

The Spirit of Jehovah has spoken by me, and His Word was on my tongue.

And they crucified Him, and divided His garments, casting lots, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet: They divided My garments among them, and for My clothing they cast lots.

For David himself said by the Holy Spirit: The Lord said to my Lord, Sit at My right hand, till I make Your enemies Your footstool.

Then He said to them, These are the words which I spoke to you while I was still with you, that all things must be fulfilled which were written in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms concerning Me.

Therefore, as the Holy Spirit says: Today, if you will hear His voice,

again He designates a certain day, saying in David, Today, after such a long time, as it has been said: Today, if you will hear His voice, do not harden your hearts.

for prophecy was not formerly brought forth by man's choice, but holy men of God spoke as they were propelled along by the Holy Spirit.

since the day that I commanded judges to be over My people Israel, and have caused you to rest from all your enemies. And Jehovah has declared to you that He will make you a house.

He shall build a house for My name, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom forever.

But My mercy shall not depart from him, as I took it from Saul, whom I removed from before you.

And it shall be, when your days have been fulfilled to go to your fathers, that I will raise up your seed after you from your sons; and I will establish his kingdom.

I will be his Father, and he shall be My son; and I will not take My mercy away from him, as I took it from him who was before you.

According to all these words and according to all this vision, thus Nathan spoke to David.

I have made a covenant with My elect, I have sworn unto David My servant:

Your seed I will establish forever, and build up your throne from generation to generation. Selah

Then You spoke in a vision to Your holy one, and said: I have placed help upon a mighty one; I have exalted a chosen one out of the people.

with whom My hand shall be established; My arm also shall strengthen him.

I will beat down his foes before his face, and plague those who hate him.

I will also set his hand over the sea, and his right hand over the rivers.

And I will make him My firstborn, the highest of the kings of the earth.

His seed also I have ordained eternally, and His throne as the days of Heaven.

if they break My Statutes and do not keep My Commandments,

Nevertheless in My lovingkindness I will not crush him, nor deal falsely in My faithfulness.

Once I have sworn by My holiness; I will not lie to David:

it shall be established forever like the moon, a faithful witness in the clouds. Selah

Your people shall be volunteers in the day of Your power; in the splendor of holiness, from the womb of the dawn, You have the dew of Your youth.

The Lord at Your right hand shall shatter kings in the day of His wrath.

Jehovah has sworn in truth unto David; He will not turn from it: I will set upon your throne the fruit of your body.

For Jehovah has chosen Zion; He has desired it for His dwelling place.

I will bless, will bless her provisions; I will satisfy her needy with bread.

There will I make the horn of David sprout; I have set in place a lamp for My anointed.

concerning His Son Jesus Christ our Lord, who was made of the seed of David according to the flesh,

Remember that Jesus Christ, of the seed of David, was raised from the dead according to my gospel,

For this Melchizedek, king of Salem, priest of the Most High God, who met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings and blessed him,

to whom also Abraham gave a tenth part of all, first being translated king of righteousness, and then also king of Salem, meaning king of peace,

(for they have become priests without an oath, but He with an oath by Him who said to Him: The Lord has sworn and will not repent, You are a priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek),

Thus God, determining to show more abundantly to the heirs of promise the immutability of His counsel, pledged it by an oath,

Yet, I have set My King on My holy hill of Zion.

Ask of Me, and I will give the nations for Your inheritance, and the ends of the earth for Your possession.

And now be wise, O kings; be instructed, you judges of the earth.

Kiss the Son, lest He be angry, and you perish from the way, when His wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all those who put their trust in Him.

i1 [A Psalm for Solomon.] i0 par Give the king Your justice, O God, and Your righteousness to the king's Son.

The mountains shall bring peace to the people, and the little hills, by righteousness.

They shall fear You as long as the sun and moon endure, from generation to generation.

In His days the righteous shall flourish, and abundance of peace, until the moon is no more.

Those who dwell in the wilderness shall bow before Him; and His enemies shall lick the dust.

Yea, all kings shall fall down before Him; all nations shall serve Him.

He shall have pity on the poor and needy and shall save the souls of the needy.

And He shall live, and to Him shall be given the gold of Sheba; and prayer shall continually be made for Him; He shall be blessed daily.

His name is eternal; His name shall continue and increase before the sun; and men shall be blessed in Him; all nations shall call Him blessed.

And blessed is His glorious name forever; let all the earth be filled with His glory! Amen and Amen.

Therefore the Lord Himself shall give you a sign: Behold, a virgin shall conceive and bring forth a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel.

For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given; and the government shall be upon His shoulder; and His name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The Strong and Mighty God, The Eternal Father, The Prince of Peace.

Of the increase of His government and peace upon the throne of David there will be no end; and upon His kingdom, to order it and to establish it with judgment and with justice from now on, even forever. The zeal of Jehovah of Hosts will accomplish this.

Behold, the days are coming, says Jehovah, that I will raise unto David a righteous Branch, and a King who shall reign and act prudently, and shall execute justice and righteousness in the earth.

In His days Judah shall be saved, and Israel shall dwell safely. And this is His name by which He shall be called, JEHOVAH, OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS.

Behold, the days are coming, says Jehovah, that I will establish the good thing which I have promised to the house of Israel and to the house of Judah.

In those days, and at that time, I will cause the Branch of Righteousness to grow up to David; and He shall execute justice and righteousness in the land.

In that day I will raise up the covert of David that has fallen, and I will wall up its breaks. And I will raise up its ruins, and I will build it as in the days of old;

so that they may possess the remnant of Edom, and all the nations who are called by My name, declares Jehovah who does this.

And you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, though you are insignificant among the thousands of Judah, yet out of you shall come forth to Me the One to be Ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from the days of eternity.

And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bring forth a Son, and shall call His name JESUS.

And He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of His kingdom there will be no end.

And the angel said to them, Do not fear, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people.

For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.

Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world. If My kingdom were of this world, My servants would fight, so that I should not be delivered to the Jews; but now My kingdom is not from here.

Pilate therefore said to Him, Are You a king then? Jesus answered, You say that I am a king. For this purpose I was born, and for this I have come into the world, that I should bear witness to the Truth. Everyone who is of the Truth hears My voice.

And again, Isaiah says: There shall be a root of Jesse; and He who shall rise to reign over the Gentiles, in Him the Gentiles shall hope.

These will make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb will overcome them, for He is Lord of lords and King of kings; and those who are with Him are called, elect, and faithful.

And He has on His robe and on His thigh a name written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.
