In Him was life, and the life was the light of men.

And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not lay hold of it.

This man came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all through Him might believe.

He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light.

That was the true Light which gives light to every man coming into the world.
John 3:19-21

For everyone practicing evil hates the Light and does not come to the Light, lest his deeds should be reproved.
