houses full of all good things, which you have not filled, hewn-out wells which you have not dug, vineyards and olive trees which you have not planted; when you have eaten and are full;

then be on guard that you not forget Jehovah who brought you out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage.

Those who were full have hired themselves out for bread, and the hungry have ceased to hunger. Even the barren has borne seven, and she who has many children has become feeble.

lest I be full and deny You and say, Who is Jehovah? Or lest I be poor and steal, and take the name of my God in vain.

But they also have erred through wine, and through strong drink have gone astray. The priest and the prophet have erred through strong drink; they are swallowed up by wine; they have gone astray through strong drink; they err in vision, they stumble in judgment.

Therefore thus says the Lord Jehovah, Behold, My servants will eat, but you shall be hungry. Behold, My servants will drink, but you shall be thirsty. Behold, My servants will rejoice, but you shall be ashamed.

I know how to be abased, and I know how to abound. Everywhere and in everything I am taught both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to lack.

I have strength for all things in Christ who strengthens me.

Because you say, I am rich, have become wealthy, and have need of nothing; and do not know that you are wretched and miserable and poor and blind and naked;

And they shall pass through it, hard-pressed and hungry; and it shall come to pass that when they shall be hungry, that they shall be enraged and curse their king and their God, and look upward.

And he shall cut off on the right hand and be hungry; and he shall devour on the left, and they shall not be satisfied. Each man shall eat the flesh of his own arm;

Therefore thus says the Lord Jehovah, Behold, My servants will eat, but you shall be hungry. Behold, My servants will drink, but you shall be thirsty. Behold, My servants will rejoice, but you shall be ashamed.

And they ridiculed Him, knowing that she had died.

Now the Pharisees, who were lovers of money, also heard all these things, and they derided Him.

And He said to them, You are those who justify yourselves before men, but God knows your hearts. For what is highly esteemed among men is an abomination in the sight of God.

But I am a worm, and no man; a reproach of men, and despised by the people.

All who see Me mock Me; they shoot out the lip; they shake the head, saying,

Even in laughter the heart may sorrow, and the end of that mirth is heaviness.

I said of laughter, It is madness; and of mirth, What does it accomplish?

Sorrow is better than laughter; for by the sadness of the face the heart is made better.

For as the crackling of thorns under a pot, so is the laughter of the fool; this also is vanity.

neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor coarse jesting, which are not fitting, but rather giving of thanks.

Lament and mourn and weep. Let your laughter be turned to mourning and your joy to shame.

But God said to him, Fool! This night your soul will be required of you; then whose will those things be which you have prepared?

There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when you see Abraham and Isaac and Jacob and all the prophets in the kingdom of God, and yourselves being thrust outside.

that the rejoicing of the wicked is near its end, and the mirth of the hypocrite is but for a moment?

yet he shall perish forever like his own dung; those who see him shall say, where is he?

They send forth their little ones like a flock, and their children dance.

They spend their days in prosperity, and in a moment go down to Sheol.

But he shall go to the generation of his fathers; they shall never see light.

Therefore my loins are filled with pain; pangs have taken hold on me like the pangs of a woman in labor. I am bent over from hearing it; I am dismayed from seeing it.

My heart has wandered, terror overwhelms me; the twilight I longed for He has turned into trembling.

The new wine mourns, the vine droops, all the merry-hearted sigh.

They shall not drink wine with a song; strong drink is bitter to those who drink it.

There is a cry for wine in the streets; all joy is darkened, the mirth of the land has gone.

They drank wine and praised the gods of gold, and of silver, and of bronze, of iron, wood, and stone.

Then the king's countenance was changed, and his thoughts troubled him, so that the joints of his loins shook, and his knees knocked one against the other.

And I will turn your feasts into mourning, and all your songs into lamentation. And I will bring up sackcloth on all loins, and baldness on every head. And I will make it like the mourning for an only one; and the end of it like a bitter day.

For as thorns are woven together, and as their drunkards are drunken, they shall be devoured like fully dried straw.

But when the king came in to see the guests, he saw a man there who did not have on a wedding garment.

And the king said to the servants, Bind him hand and foot, take him away, and cast him into outer darkness; there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

For when they say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction comes upon them, as labor pains upon a pregnant woman. And they shall by no means escape.

By however much she has glorified herself and lived luxuriously, by the same amount give her torment and sorrow; for she says in her heart, I sit as queen, and am no widow, and will not see sorrow.

The kings of the earth who prostituted themselves and lived luxuriously with her will weep and lament for her, when they see the smoke of her burning,

And the merchants of the earth will weep and mourn over her, for no one buys their merchandise anymore:
