Now these are the generations of Perez: Perez begot Hezron;

Amminadab begot Nahshon, and Nahshon begot Salmon;

Obed begot Jesse, and Jesse begot David.

And Saul said to him, Lad, whose son are you? And David answered, I am the son of your servant Jesse the Bethlehemite.

For as long as the son of Jesse lives on the earth, you shall not be established, nor your kingdom. Now therefore, send and bring him to me, for he is a son of death.

Ram begot Amminadab, and Amminadab begot Nahshon, chief of the sons of Judah;

Boaz begot Obed, and Obed begot Jesse;

Nethanel the fourth, Raddai the fifth,

The prayers of David the son of Jesse are ended.

And a Branch shall go out from the trunk of Jesse, and a Shoot shall grow out of his roots.

And the Spirit of Jehovah shall rest upon Him, the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and might, the Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of Jehovah.

And Judah begot Pharez and Zarah by Tamar, Pharez begot Hezron, and Hezron begot Aram.

And Salmon begot Boaz by Rahab, Boaz begot Obed by Ruth, Obed begot Jesse,

And when He had removed him, He raised up for them David as king, to whom also He bore witness and said, I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after My own heart, who will do all My will.

From this man's seed, according to promise, God raised up for Israel a Savior, Jesus;

from Judah, Nahshon the son of Amminadab;

On the east side, toward the rising of the sun, those of the standard of the camp of Judah shall encamp according to their hosts; and Nahshon the son of Amminadab shall be the captain of the sons of Judah:

And the one who offered his offering on the first day was Nahshon the son of Amminadab, from the tribe of Judah.

Nahshon begot Salma, and Salma begot Boaz;

Boaz begot Obed, and Obed begot Jesse;
