And when evening had come, there came a rich man from Arimathea, named Joseph, who himself was also a disciple of Jesus.

He went to Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus. And Pilate commanded the body to be given.

Now when evening had come, because it was the Preparation Day, that is, the day before the Sabbath,

And Pilate marveled that He had already died; and summoning the centurion, he asked him if He had been dead for awhile.

After this, Joseph of Arimathea, being a disciple of Jesus, but secretly, for fear of the Jews, asked Pilate that he might take away the body of Jesus; and Pilate gave him permission. And he came and took the body of Jesus.

And behold, there was a man in Jerusalem whose name was Simeon, and this man was just and devout, waiting for the Consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit was upon him.

a devout man and one who feared God with all his household, who gave alms generously to the people, and prayed to God always.

And they said, Cornelius the centurion, a just man, one who fears God and has a good reputation among all the nation of the Jews, was divinely instructed by a holy angel to summon you to his house, and to hear words from you.

For he was a good man, full of the Holy Spirit and of faith. And a great many people were added to the Lord.
