When all that generation had been gathered to their fathers, another generation arose after them who had not known Jehovah nor the work which He had done for Israel.

A generation passes away, and a generation comes; but the earth stands perpetually.

For the living know that they shall die; but the dead do not know anything, nor do they have any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten.
