But he, wanting to justify himself, said to Jesus, And who is my neighbor?

So he answered and said to his father, Lo, these many years I have been serving you; I never transgressed your commandment at any time; and yet you never gave me a young goat, that I might make merry with my friends.

And He said to them, You are those who justify yourselves before men, but God knows your hearts. For what is highly esteemed among men is an abomination in the sight of God.

There is a generation that is pure in its own eyes, and yet is not washed from its excrement.

who say, Keep to yourself, do not come near me; for I am holier than you. These are a smoke in My nose, a fire that burns all the day.

Hear the Word of Jehovah, you who tremble at His Word: Your brothers who hated you, who cast you out because of My name, said, Let Jehovah be glorified. But He will appear for your joy, and they shall be ashamed.

Then they reviled him and said, You are His disciple, but we are Moses' disciples.

They answered and said to him, You were born completely in sins, and do you teach us? And they drove him out.

I was alive once apart from the Law, but when the commandment came, sin revived and I died.

but Israel, pursuing the Law of righteousness, has not arrived at the Law of righteousness.

Why? Because it was not by faith, but as out of works of the Law. For they stumbled at the stumbling stone.

For they, being ignorant of God's righteousness, and seeking to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted to the righteousness of God.

though I also might have confidence in the flesh. If anyone else thinks he may have confidence in the flesh, I more so:

concerning zeal, persecuting the church; concerning the righteousness which is in the Law, blameless.

The Pharisee stood and prayed thus to himself, God, I thank You that I am not like other men; extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this tax collector.

Now when the Pharisee who had invited Him saw this, he spoke within himself, saying, This man, if He were a prophet, would know who and what manner of woman this is who is touching Him, for she is a sinner.

And the Pharisees and scribes murmured, saying, This Man receives sinners and eats with them.

But as soon as this son of yours came, who has devoured your livelihood with harlots, you killed the fatted calf for him.

But when they saw it, they all murmured, saying, He has gone to be a guest with a man who is a sinner.

Then the Pharisees answered them, Have you not also been led astray?

But this crowd that does not know the Law is accursed.

Then the Jews answered and said to Him, Do we not say rightly that You are a Samaritan and have a demon?

Then He said to me, Depart, for I will send you far from here to the Gentiles.

But why do you judge your brother? Or why do you treat your brother as being of no account? For everyone shall appear before the judgment seat of Christ.
