And the rest fled to Aphek, into the city; where a wall fell on twenty-seven thousand of the men who were left. And Ben-Hadad fled and came into the city, into an inner chamber.

And his servants said to him, Behold now, we have heard that the kings of the house of Israel are merciful kings. Please, let us put sackcloth on our loins and ropes around our heads, and go out to the king of Israel; perhaps he will preserve alive your soul.

Now there were four leprous men at the entrance of the gate; and they said to one another, Why are we sitting here until we will have died?

If we say, We will enter the city, the famine is in the city, and we shall die there. And if we sit here, we are also dead. Now therefore, come, let us fall to the camp of the Syrians. If they keep us alive, we shall live; and if they kill us, we shall have died.

And when he was in distress, he entreated Jehovah his God, and humbled himself greatly before the God of his fathers,

and prayed to Him; and He was entreated of him, heard his supplication, and brought him back to Jerusalem into his kingdom. Then Manasseh recognized that Jehovah was God.

Also his prayer and his entreaty, and all his sin and unfaithfulness, and the places where he built high places and set up groves and graven images, before he was humbled, behold, they are written among the sayings of the seers.

I declared my sin to You, and my iniquity I have not hidden. I said, I will confess my transgression to Jehovah, and You forgave the iniquity of my sin. Selah.

The bands of death have encompassed me, and the distress of Sheol has fallen upon me; I found trouble and sorrow.

Gracious is Jehovah, and righteous; yea, our God is merciful.

Return to your rest, O my soul, for Jehovah has dealt bountifully with you.

For there shall be a day that the watchmen on Mount Ephraim shall cry, Arise and let us go up to Zion unto Jehovah our God!

Behold, I will bring them from the land of the north and gather them from the recesses of the earth, and with them the blind and the lame, the woman with child and she who is in labor with child, together; a great company shall return there.

In those days, and at that time, says Jehovah, the children of Israel shall come, they and the children of Judah together, going and weeping. They shall go and seek Jehovah their God.

They shall ask the way to Zion with their faces headed there, saying, Come and let us join ourselves to Jehovah in an everlasting covenant never to be forgotten.

And I said, My strength and my hope from Jehovah are gone.

My soul calls to mind and remembers, and it depresses my mind.

Through Jehovah's kindness we are not consumed, because His compassions never fail.

Therefore, behold, I will hedge up your way with thorns, and I will close off her wall, so that she shall not find her paths.

And she shall follow after her lovers, but she shall not reach to them. And she shall seek them, but shall not find them. Then she shall say, I will go and return to my first husband, for then it was better with me than now.

O Israel, return to Jehovah your God, for you have stumbled by your iniquity.

Assyria shall not save us; we will not ride on horses. We shall not say any more to the work of our hands, You are our gods! For in You the fatherless finds mercy.

And I said, I am cast off from Your sight; yet I will again look to Your holy temple.

Who knows if God may turn, and have compassion, and turn away from His burning anger, that we not perish?

So He said to them, When you pray, say: Our Father in Heaven, Holy is Your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in Heaven.

Indeed, You are our Father, though Abraham does not know us, and Israel does not acknowledge us. You, O Jehovah, are our Father, our Redeemer; Your name is from everlasting.

But I said, How shall I put you among the children, and give you a pleasant land, a beautiful inheritance among the multitudes of nations! And I said, You shall call Me, My Father, and shall not turn away from Me.

Is Ephraim My dear son? Is he a delightful child? For as often as I spoke against him, I call to mind and remember him still. Therefore My heart is stirred for him; I will have mercy and compassion upon him, says Jehovah.

In this manner, therefore, pray: Our Father in Heaven, Holy is Your name.

For if you forgive men their trespasses, your Heavenly Father will also forgive you.

If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in Heaven give good things to those who ask Him!

And the tax collector, standing afar off, would not so much as raise his eyes to Heaven, but beat his breast, saying, God, be merciful to me a sinner!

But if they confess their iniquity and the iniquity of their fathers, with their unfaithfulness in which they were unfaithful to Me, and that they also have walked contrary to Me,

and that I also have walked contrary to them and have brought them into the land of their enemies; if their uncircumcised hearts are humbled, and they accept their guilt;

yet when they have returned in their minds in the land where they have been carried captive, and have repented in their hearts, and made supplication to You in the land of those holding them captive, saying, We have sinned and done perversely, we have committed wickedness;

and when they return to You with all their heart and with all their soul in the land of their enemies who have taken them captive, and have prayed to You toward their land which You have given to their fathers, the city which You have chosen and the house which I have built for Your name:

Then he observes men and says, I have sinned, and perverted what was right; and it has not been equaled to me.

He has redeemed my soul from passing over to the Pit, and my life shall see the light.

And if they are bound in fetters, caught in cords of affliction,

He also opens their ear to instruction, and commands that they turn back from iniquity.

Because of Your great name, O Jehovah, pardon my iniquity; for it is great.

When I kept silent, my bones wore out through my roaring all day long.

I declared my sin to You, and my iniquity I have not hidden. I said, I will confess my transgression to Jehovah, and You forgave the iniquity of my sin. Selah.

For I acknowledge my transgressions, and my sin is continually before me.

Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity, and in sin did my mother conceive me.

Do not withhold correction from a lad, for if you beat him with the rod, he will not die.

and were immersed by him in the Jordan, confessing their sins.

If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.

If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His Word is not in us.

And the son said to him, Father, I have sinned against Heaven and in your sight, and am no longer worthy to be called your son.

And whereas they commanded to leave the stump and roots of the tree: Your kingdom shall be secure to you after you have come to know that Heaven rules.
