Matthew 22:1-14

And Jesus answered and spoke to them again by parables and said:

The kingdom of Heaven is like a certain king who made a wedding feast for his son,

and sent out his servants to call those who were invited to the wedding feast; and they were not willing to come.
4
Again, he sent out other servants, saying, Tell those being invited, Behold, I have prepared my dinner; my oxen and fatted cattle are killed, and all things are ready. Come to the wedding feast.
5
But they made light of it and went their ways, one to his own farm, another to his business.
6
And the rest seized his servants, treated them shamefully, and killed them.
7
But when the king heard about it, he was angry. And he sent out his armies, destroyed those murderers, and burned up their city.
8
Then he said to his servants, The wedding feast is ready, but those who were invited were not worthy.
9
Therefore go into the highways, and as many as you find, invite to the wedding feast.
10
So those servants went out into the highways and gathered together all whom they found, both evil and good. And the wedding hall was filled with guests.
11
But when the king came in to see the guests, he saw a man there who did not have on a wedding garment.
12
So he said to him, Friend, how did you come in here without a wedding garment? And he was speechless.
13
And the king said to the servants, Bind him hand and foot, take him away, and cast him into outer darkness; there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
14
For many are called, but few are chosen.
Matthew 25:1-13

Then the kingdom of Heaven shall be likened to ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom.

And five of them were wise, and five foolish.
3
Those who were foolish took their lamps and took no oil with them,
4
but the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.

But while the bridegroom was delayed, they all nodded and fell asleep.
6
And at midnight there was a cry: Behold, the bridegroom is coming; go out to meet him!
7
Then all those virgins arose and prepared their lamps.
8
And the foolish said to the wise, Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.
9
But the wise answered, saying, No, lest there should not be enough for us and you; but go rather to those who sell, and buy for yourselves.
10
And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the wedding feast; and the door was shut.
11
Afterward the other virgins came also, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us!
12
But he answered and said, Truly, I say to you, I do not know you.
13
Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man comes.
