And when the scribes and Pharisees saw Him eating with the tax collectors and sinners, they said to His disciples, How is it that He eats and drinks with tax collectors and sinners?

Then the Pharisees and some of the scribes came together to Him, having come from Jerusalem.

And when they saw some of His disciples eat bread with defiled, that is, with unwashed hands, they found fault.

Then some of the scribes and Pharisees answered, saying, Teacher, we want to see a sign from You.

Then the Pharisees and Sadducees came, and tempting Him, asked that He would show them a sign out of Heaven.

and in the morning, It will be foul weather today, for the sky is red and threatening. Hypocrites! You know how to discern the face of the sky, but you cannot discern the signs of the times.

The Pharisees also came to Him, testing Him, and saying to Him, Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife for just any reason?

And when He came into the temple, the chief priests and the elders of the people approached Him as He was teaching, and said, By what authority do You do these things? And who gave You this authority?

Then the Pharisees went and plotted how they might entangle Him in His words.

But Jesus perceived their wickedness, and said, Why do you test Me, hypocrites?

The same day the Sadducees, who say there is no resurrection, came to Him and questioned Him,

But when the Pharisees heard that He had silenced the Sadducees, they were gathered together.

Then one of them, a lawyer, asked Him a question, testing Him, and saying,

And as He said these things to them, the scribes and the Pharisees began to quarrel with Him forcefully, and to cross-examine Him about many things,

lying in wait for Him, and seeking to catch Him in something He might say, in order to accuse Him.

Have any of the rulers or the Pharisees believed into Him?

Others, testing Him, sought from Him a sign from Heaven.

Then He also said to the multitudes, Whenever you see a cloud rising out of the west, immediately you say, A thunder storm is coming; and so it happens.

Hypocrites! You can discern the face of the sky and of the earth, but how is it you do not discern this time?

Then Jesus said to him, Unless you see signs and wonders, you will by no means believe.

Therefore they said to Him, What sign do You show then, that we may see and believe You? What do You work?

For Jews request a sign, and Greeks seek after wisdom;

but we preach Christ crucified, truly to the Jews a stumbling block and to the Greeks foolishness,

Shall we give, or shall we not give? But He, knowing their hypocrisy, said to them, Why do you test Me? Bring Me a denarius that I may see it.

Therefore the people quarreled with Moses, and said, Give us water, that we may drink. And Moses said to them, Why do you quarrel with me? Why do you tempt Jehovah?

And he called the name of the place Massah and Meribah, because of the quarreling of the children of Israel, and because they tempted Jehovah, saying, Is Jehovah in our midst or not?

You shall not tempt Jehovah your God as you tempted Him in Massah.

And now we are calling the arrogant blessed. Those that work wickedness are built up; they even test God, and escape.

And behold, a certain lawyer stood up and tested Him, saying, Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?

Then Peter said to her, How is it that you have agreed together to test the Spirit of the Lord? Behold, the feet of those who have buried your husband are at the door, and they will carry you out.

nor let us test Christ, as some of them also tempted, and were destroyed by serpents;
