Is this not the carpenter's son? Is not His mother called Mary? And His brothers Jacob, Joses, Simon, and Judas?

And His sisters, are they not all with us? Where then did this Man get all these things?

And all bore witness to Him, and marveled at the gracious words going forth out of His mouth. And they said, Is this not Joseph's son?

And they said, Is not this Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? How is it then that He says, I have come down out of Heaven?

Thus says Jehovah, the Redeemer of Israel, His Holy One, to Him whom man despises, to Him whom the nation loathes, the Servant of rulers: Kings shall see and arise, rulers also shall bow down, because of Jehovah who is faithful, the Holy One of Israel, and He shall choose You.

For He grows up before Him as a tender plant, and as a root out of the dry ground. He has no form nor splendor that we should regard Him, nor anything spectacular that we should desire Him.

He is despised and rejected by men; a Man of pain, and knowing infirmity; a hiding of faces; being despised, we have esteemed Him not.

Coming to Him as to a living stone, rejected indeed by men, but chosen by God and precious,

There were also women looking on from afar, among whom were Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of Jacob the Less and of Joses, and Salome,

While He was still talking to the multitudes, behold, His mother and brothers stood outside, seeking to speak with Him.

Do we not have the right to eat and drink?

But I saw none of the other apostles except Jacob, the Lord's brother.

Judas (not Iscariot) said to Him, Lord, how is it that You will make Yourself known to us, and not at all to the world?

So they were offended in Him. But Jesus said to them, A prophet is not without honor except in his own country and in his own house.

And Simeon blessed them, and said to Mary His mother, Behold, this Child is destined for the fall and rising of many in Israel, and for a sign which will be spoken against

And He said to them, You will surely say this proverb to Me, Physician, heal yourself. Whatever we have heard done in Capernaum, do also here in Your country.

But I tell you truly, many widows were in Israel in the days of Elijah, when the heaven was shut up three years and six months, and there was a great famine throughout all the land;

And many lepers were in Israel during the time of Elisha the prophet, and none of them was cleansed except Naaman the Syrian.

and rose up and thrust Him out of the city; and they led Him to the brow of the hill on which their city was built, in order to throw Him down.

And blessed is he who is not made to stumble because of Me.

Therefore many of His disciples, when they heard this, said, This is a hard saying; who is able to hear it?

When Jesus knew in Himself that His disciples murmured about this, He said to them, Does this offend you?

but we preach Christ crucified, truly to the Jews a stumbling block and to the Greeks foolishness,
