And He answered and said to them, Truly, Elijah comes first and restores all things. And how it is written concerning the Son of Man, that He must suffer many things and be treated with contempt.

and they will mock Him, and scourge Him, and spit on Him, and kill Him. And the third day He will rise again.

And some began to spit on Him, and to cover His face, and to beat Him with the fist, and to say to Him, Prophesy! And the officers struck Him with slaps.

Will it be well when He searches you out? Or do you mock Him as one mocks a man?

They were sons of fools, yea, sons without a name; they were scourged from the land.

They abhor me, they keep far from me; they do not refrain from spitting in my face.

At my right hand the brood arises; they push away my feet, and they raise against me their ways of destruction.

But I am a worm, and no man; a reproach of men, and despised by the people.

All who see Me mock Me; they shoot out the lip; they shake the head, saying,

But at my stumbling they gathered themselves together and rejoiced; and before I knew it the attackers gathered themselves against me; they tore at me and were not still;

O Jehovah, how long will You look on? Rescue my soul from their ravages, my only one from the lions.

Those who sit in the gate speak against me, and I am the taunting song of the drunkards.

You have known My reproach, and My shame, and My dishonor; My enemies are all before You.

Reproach has broken My heart, and I am full of heaviness. I looked for someone to show pity, but there was no one; and for comforters, but I found none.

Thus says Jehovah, the Redeemer of Israel, His Holy One, to Him whom man despises, to Him whom the nation loathes, the Servant of rulers: Kings shall see and arise, rulers also shall bow down, because of Jehovah who is faithful, the Holy One of Israel, and He shall choose You.

I gave My back to those who strike, and My cheeks to those who pluck; I hid not My face from shame and spitting.

Just as many were astonished at You (His appearance was disfigured more than any man, and His form more than the sons of mankind);

He is despised and rejected by men; a Man of pain, and knowing infirmity; a hiding of faces; being despised, we have esteemed Him not.

But He was wounded for our transgressions; He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement for our peace was upon Him; and with His stripes we are healed.

Now gather yourself together in troops, O daughter of troops; he has laid siege against us. They shall strike the Judge of Israel with a rod on the cheek.

Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be delivered to the chief priests and to the scribes; and they will condemn Him to death,

and deliver Him to the Gentiles to mock and to scourge and to crucify. And the third day He will rise again.

For He will be delivered up to the Gentiles and will be mocked and insulted and spit upon.

Now the men who held Jesus mocked Him and beat Him.

Then Herod, with his men of war, treated Him with contempt and mocked Him, arrayed Him in a gorgeous robe, and sent Him back to Pilate.

The soldiers also mocked Him, coming and offering Him vinegar,

looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

For consider Him who endured such opposition from sinners against Himself, that you not become weary and faint in your souls.

Therefore let us go forth to Him, outside the camp, bearing His reproach.

And it came to pass, when Abraham's servant heard their words, that he prostrated himself to the earth before Jehovah.

I have sworn by Myself, the word has gone out of My mouth in righteousness, and shall not return, that to Me every knee shall bow, every tongue shall swear.

But what does the Divine response say to him? I have reserved to Myself seven thousand men who have not bowed the knee to Baal.

But why do you judge your brother? Or why do you treat your brother as being of no account? For everyone shall appear before the judgment seat of Christ.

For it is written: As I live, says the Lord, Every knee shall bow to Me, and every tongue shall confess to God.

that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in Heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth,
