In those days John the Immerser came preaching in the wilderness of Judea,

and saying, Repent, for the kingdom of Heaven has drawn near!

and were immersed by him in the Jordan, confessing their sins.

I indeed immerse you in water unto repentance, but He who is coming after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will immerse you in the Holy Spirit and fire;

while Annas and Caiaphas were high priests, the Word of God came upon John the son of Zacharias in the wilderness.

And he went into all the region around the Jordan, preaching an immersion of repentance for the remission of sins,

And John also was immersing in Aenon near Salim, because there was much water there. And they came and were immersed.

that Word you know, which was proclaimed throughout all Judea, and began from Galilee after the immersion which John preached:

when John had first preached, before His coming on the scene, an immersion of repentance to all the people of Israel.

And as John fulfilled his course, he said, Who do you think I am? I am not He. But behold, there comes One after me, the sandals of whose feet I am not worthy to loose.

So he said to them, Into what then were you immersed? And they said, Into John's immersion.

Then Paul said, John indeed immersed with an immersion of repentance, saying to the people that they should believe on Him who would come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus.

And now why are you waiting? Arise and be immersed, and wash away your sins, calling on the name of the Lord.
