For I say to you, that unless your righteousness exceeds that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will by no means enter the kingdom of Heaven.

But when the Pharisees heard it they said, This one does not cast out demons except by Beelzebub, the ruler of the demons.

Then His disciples came and said to Him, Do You know that the Pharisees were offended when they heard this saying?

Then Jesus said to them, Take heed and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and the Sadducees.

How is it that you do not understand that I did not speak to you concerning bread, but to beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees?

Then they understood that He did not tell them to beware of the leaven of bread, but of the doctrine of the Pharisees and Sadducees.

Then the Pharisees went and plotted how they might entangle Him in His words.

The same day the Sadducees, who say there is no resurrection, came to Him and questioned Him,

But when the Pharisees heard that He had silenced the Sadducees, they were gathered together.

But woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you shut up the kingdom of Heaven against men; for you neither go in yourselves, nor do you allow those who are entering to go in.

Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you travel land and sea to win one proselyte, and when he becomes one, you make him twice more a son of Gehenna than yourselves.

Fools and blind! For which is greater, the gold or the temple that sanctifies the gold?

Fools and blind! For which is greater, the gift or the altar that sanctifies the gift?

He who swears by the temple, swears by it and by Him who dwells in it.

Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you pay tithe of mint and anise and cumin, and have disregarded the weightier matters of the law: judgment and mercy and faith. It is necessary to do these, and not to leave the others undone.

Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you cleanse the outside of the cup and dish, but inside they are full of extortion and self-indulgence.

Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like whitewashed tombs which indeed appear beautiful outwardly, but inside are full of dead men's bones and all uncleanness.

For the Pharisees and all the Jews do not eat unless they wash their hands with the fist, holding the tradition of the elders.

So the Pharisees and scribes asked Him, Why do Your disciples not walk according to the tradition of the elders, but eat bread with unwashed hands?

And He charged them, saying, Take heed, beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and the leaven of Herod.

And they sent to Him some of the Pharisees and the Herodians, to catch Him in His words.

Then some Sadducees, who say there is no resurrection, came to Him; and they asked Him, saying:

But the Pharisees and lawyers rejected the purpose of God for themselves, not having been immersed by him.

And the Lord said to him, Now you Pharisees make the outside of the cup and dish clean, but your inward part is full of robbery and wickedness.

But rather give alms from what is within; and behold, all things are clean to you.

Woe to you Pharisees! For you love the chief seats in the synagogues and greetings in the marketplaces.

Now the Pharisees, who were lovers of money, also heard all these things, and they derided Him.

The Pharisee stood and prayed thus to himself, God, I thank You that I am not like other men; extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this tax collector.

Now those who were sent were from the Pharisees.

Then the officers came to the chief priests and Pharisees, who said to them, Why have you not brought Him?

Then the Pharisees answered them, Have you not also been led astray?

But this crowd that does not know the Law is accursed.

Then some of the Pharisees who were with Him heard these words, and said to Him, Are we blind also?

Now as they spoke to the people, the priests, the temple commander, and the Sadducees came near them,

being greatly disturbed that they taught the people and preached in Jesus the resurrection from the dead.

Then the high priest rose up, and all those who were with him (which is the sect of the Sadducees), and they were filled with zeal,

But some of the sect of the Pharisees who believed rose up, saying, It is necessary to circumcise them, and to command them to keep the Law of Moses.

But when Paul perceived that one part were Sadducees and the other Pharisees, he cried out in the council, Men and brethren, I am a Pharisee, the son of a Pharisee; concerning the hope and resurrection of the dead I am being judged!

For Sadducees say that there is no resurrection; and no angel or spirit; but the Pharisees confess both.

They knew me from the first, if they were willing to bear witness, that according to the strictest sect of our religion I lived a Pharisee.

Offspring of vipers! How can you, being evil, speak good things? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.

Serpents! Offspring of vipers! How will you escape the condemnation of Gehenna?

And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her Seed; He shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise His heel.

The wicked are estranged from the womb; they go astray from the belly, speaking lies.

which will not heed the charmer's voice, who charms so skillfully.

But draw near here, you sons of the sorceress, you seed of the adulterer and the harlot.

Of whom do you make sport? Against whom do you make a wide mouth and stick out the tongue? Are you not children of transgression, a seed of deception,

They hatch vipers' eggs and weave the spider's web; he who eats their eggs dies, and that which is crushed breaks out into a viper.

Then he said to the multitudes that came out to be immersed by him, Offspring of vipers! Who warned you to flee from the wrath to come?

And even now the ax is laid to the root of the trees. Therefore every tree which does not produce good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.

You are of the devil as your father, and the lusts of your father you purpose to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own, for he is a liar and the father of it.

In this the children of God and the children of the devil are manifest: Whoever does not produce righteousness is not of God, nor is he who does not love his brother.

So the great dragon was cast out, that serpent of old, called the Devil and Satan, who leads the whole world astray; he was cast out onto the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.

And I heard a loud voice saying in Heaven, Now salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the authority of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren, who accused them before our God day and night, has been cast down.

To whom shall I speak, and give warning, that they may hear? Behold, their ears are uncircumcised, and they cannot give heed. Behold, the Word of Jehovah is a reproach to them; they have no delight in it.

Flee out of the middle of Babylon, and each man deliver his soul. Do not be cut off in her iniquity, for this is the time of Jehovah's vengeance; He will make good her recompense.

When I say to the wicked, You shall die the death, and you give him no warning, nor speak to warn the wicked from his wicked way, to save his life, that same wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood I will require at your hand.

Again, when a righteous man turns from his righteousness and commits iniquity, and I lay a stumbling block before him, he shall die. Because you did not give him warning, he shall die in his sin, and his righteousness which he has done shall not be remembered; but his blood I will require at your hand.

when he sees the sword coming upon the land, if he blows the shofar and warns the people,

He heard the sound of the shofar, but did not take warning; his blood shall be upon himself. But he who takes warning will save his soul.

So you, son of man: I have made you a watchman unto the house of Israel; therefore you shall hear the Word from My mouth and warn them from Me.

Therefore watch, and remember that for three years I did not cease to warn everyone night and day with tears.

For the wrath of God is revealed from Heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness,

By faith Noah, being divinely warned of things not yet seen, moved with fear, prepared an ark for the saving of his household, by which he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness which is according to faith.

Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him.

and to wait for His Son from Heaven, whom He raised from the dead, even Jesus who delivers us from the coming wrath.

These shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His power,

when He comes, in that Day, to be glorified in His saints and to be admired among all those who believe, because our testimony among you is believed.

that by two immutable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we might have strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold of the hope set before us.

and said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us and hide us from the face of Him who sits on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb!

For the great day of His wrath has come, and who is able to stand?
