Behold, I send My messenger, and He will prepare the way before Me. And the Lord whom you seek shall suddenly come to His temple, even the Messenger of the Covenant, in whom you delight. Behold, He comes, says Jehovah of Hosts.

But who can endure the day of His coming? And who will stand when He appears? For He is like a refiner's fire and like fuller's soap.

And He shall sit as a refiner and purifier of silver; and He shall purify the sons of Levi and purge them like gold and like silver, that they may draw near to Jehovah with an offering in righteousness.
Malachi 4:1
For, behold, the day is coming, burning like a fire pot; and all the proud and everyone that does wickedness shall be chaff. And the coming day will set them ablaze, says Jehovah of Hosts, which will not leave to them root or branch.

For the vineyard of Jehovah of Hosts is the house of Israel, and the men of Judah are His pleasant plant. He looked for justice, but behold bloodshed; for righteousness, but behold an outcry!
Isaiah 27:11
When its branches are dried up, they shall be broken off; the women come and set them on fire; for it is a people of no understanding. Therefore He who made them will not have mercy on them, and He who formed them will show them no favor.

Son of man, how is the wood of the vine, the vine branch, better than any other wood which is among the trees of the forest?

Is wood taken from it to make any object? Or can men make a peg from it on which to hang any vessel?

Instead, it is thrown into the fire for fuel; the fire devours both ends of it, and its middle is burned. Is it useful for any work?

Indeed, when it was whole, no object could be made from it. How much less will it be useful for any work when the fire has devoured it, and it is burned.

Therefore thus says the Lord Jehovah: Like the wood of the vine among the trees of the forest, which I have given to the fire for fuel, so I will give up the inhabitants of Jerusalem;

and I will set My face against them. They will go out from one fire, but another fire shall devour them. And you shall know that I am Jehovah, when I set My face against them.
Luke 13:6-9

He also spoke this parable: A certain man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard, and he came seeking fruit on it and found none.

Then he said to the keeper of his vineyard, Behold, for three years I have come looking for fruit on this fig tree and find none. Cut it down; why does it encumber the ground?

But he answered and said to him, Sir, let it alone this year also, until I dig around it and fertilize it.

And see if it produces fruit. But if not, after that you can cut it down.
