And Lot went out and spoke to his sons-in-law, who had married his daughters, and said, Get up, get out of this place; for Jehovah is destroying this city! But to his sons- in-law he seemed to be joking.

And Jacob gave Esau bread and stew of lentils; and he ate and drank, arose, and went his way. Thus Esau despised his birthright.

Then they despised the pleasant land; they did not believe His Word,

but murmured in their tents, and did not heed the voice of Jehovah.

The fear of Jehovah is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction.

Because I have called, and you refused; I have stretched out my hand, and no one pays attention,

but you have ignored all my counsel, and have not desired my reproof:

Others mocking said, They are full of sweet wine.

Now as he reasoned about righteousness, self-control, and the judgment to come, Felix became afraid and answered, Go away for now; when I have a convenient time I will call for you.

Or do you despise the riches of His kindness, forbearance, and longsuffering, not knowing that the kindness of God leads you to repentance?

how shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation, which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed to us by those who heard Him,

And that which was sown among the thorns is he who hears the Word, and the cares of this world and the deceitfulness of riches choke the Word, and he becomes unfruitful.

For as in the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark,

and did not realize until the flood came and took them all away, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be.

But they all with one accord began to decline. The first said to him, I have bought a piece of ground, and I must go and see it. I ask you to have me excused.

And another said, I have married a wife, and therefore I cannot come.

And as it was in the days of Noah, so it will be also in the days of the Son of Man:

Likewise as it was also in the days of Lot: They ate, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they built;

Even in the same way will it be in the day when the Son of Man is revealed.

Remember Lot's wife.

For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.

But those who purpose to be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and harmful lusts which plunge people into ruin and destruction.

For the love of money is a root of all evils, for which some being greedy, have strayed from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God,

Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

For all that is in the world; the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life; is not of the Father but is of the world.
