And he answered and said to Him, Teacher, all these things I have observed from my youth.

I say to you that likewise there will be more joy in Heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine just persons who need no repentance.

So he answered and said to his father, Lo, these many years I have been serving you; I never transgressed your commandment at any time; and yet you never gave me a young goat, that I might make merry with my friends.

The Pharisee stood and prayed thus to himself, God, I thank You that I am not like other men; extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this tax collector.

I fast twice a week; I give tithes of all that I possess.

And he said, All these things I have kept from my youth.

So when they continued asking Him, He raised Himself up and said to them, He who is without sin among you, let him throw the first stone at her.

Now we know that whatever the Law says, it says to those who are under the Law, that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God.

But now the righteousness of God apart from the Law is revealed, being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets,

for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,

I was alive once apart from the Law, but when the commandment came, sin revived and I died.

Therefore the Law was our tutor to bring us to Christ, that we might be justified by faith.

concerning zeal, persecuting the church; concerning the righteousness which is in the Law, blameless.

Then Jesus, looking at him, loved him, and said to him, One thing you lack: Go your way, sell whatever you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in Heaven; and come, take up the cross, and follow Me.

So when Jesus heard these things, He said to him, You still lack one thing. Sell everything that you have and distribute to the poor, and you will have treasure in Heaven; and come, follow Me.
