But He answered and said to them, An evil and adulterous generation seeks after a sign, and no sign will be given to it except the sign of the prophet Jonah.

For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the great fish, so will the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.

But He sighed deeply in His spirit, and said, Why does this generation seek a sign? Truly I say to you, As if a sign will be given to this generation!

For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words in this adulterous and sinful generation, of him the Son of Man also will be ashamed when He comes in the glory of His Father with the holy angels.

And with many other words he testified and exhorted them, saying, Be saved from this perverse generation.

Now Jehovah had appointed a great fish to swallow Jonah. And Jonah was in the belly of the fish three days and three nights.

And while the crowds were thickly gathered together, He began to say, This is an evil generation. It seeks a sign, and no sign will be given to it except the sign of Jonah the prophet.

For as Jonah became a sign to the Ninevites, so also the Son of Man will be to this generation.

Let them alone. They are blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind leads the blind, both will fall into the ditch.

And Jehovah said, My Spirit shall not continually strive with man, for indeed it is in flesh to sin; yet his days shall be one hundred and twenty years.

Ephraim is joined to idols. Let him alone.

Though they raise their sons, yet I will make them childless, until not a man is left. Yea, woe also to them when I turn away from them!

And they began to beg Him to depart from their borders.

And when He got into the boat, he who had been demon-possessed begged Him that he might be with Him.

But when they opposed him and blasphemed, he shook his garments and said to them, Your blood be upon your own heads; I am clean. From now on I will go to the Gentiles.
