And when He had called the multitude to Himself, He said to them, Hear and understand:

Jesus said to them, Have you understood all these things? They said to Him, Yes, Lord.

Do you not yet understand, or remember the five loaves of the five thousand and how many baskets you took up?

How is it that you do not understand that I did not speak to you concerning bread, but to beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees?

To whom shall He teach knowledge? And whom shall He make to understand the message? Those weaned from the milk and removed from the breasts.

For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, there a little;

For they did not understand about the loaves, because their heart was hardened.

So He said to them, Are you thus without understanding also? Do you not perceive that whatever enters a man from outside cannot defile him,

But Jesus, knowing, said to them, Why do you reason because you have no bread? Do you not yet perceive nor understand? Is your heart still hardened?

Having eyes, do you not see? And having ears, do you not hear? And do you not remember?

But they did not understand this word, and were afraid to ask Him.

But they did not understand this saying, and it was hidden from them so that they might not perceive it; and they feared to ask Him about this saying.

But they understood none of these things; this saying was hidden from them, and they did not know the things which were spoken.

And He opened their mind to understand the Scriptures.

For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you again the rudimentary principles of the Words of God; and you have come to need milk and not solid food.
