Now when Jesus heard that John was delivered up to prison, He withdrew into Galilee.

For Herod himself had sent and laid hold of John, and bound him in prison because of Herodias, his brother Philip's wife; for he had married her.

But Herod the tetrarch, being reproved by him concerning Herodias, his brother Philip's wife, and for all the evils which Herod had done,

also added this, above all, that he shut John up in prison.

And John also was immersing in Aenon near Salim, because there was much water there. And they came and were immersed.

For John had not yet been thrown into prison.

There were present at that time some who told Him about the Galileans whose blood Pilate had mixed with their sacrifices.
