Now Peter sat outside in the courtyard. And a servant girl came to him, saying, You also were with Jesus of Galilee.

And when he had gone out to the porch, another girl saw him and said to those who were there, This fellow also was with Jesus of Nazareth.

And a little later those who stood by came up and said to Peter, Surely you also are one of them, for your speech betrays you.

And Peter remembered the word of Jesus who had said to him, Before the rooster crows, you will deny Me three times. And he went out and wept bitterly.

And when the servant of the man of God arose early and went out, behold, the army was surrounding the city with horses and chariots. And his servant said to him, Alas, my master! What shall we do?

Watch and pray, that you not enter into temptation. The spirit truly is willing, but the flesh is weak.

Now as Peter was below in the courtyard, one of the servant girls of the high priest came.

But he denied it, saying, I neither know nor understand what you are saying. And he went out on the porch, and a rooster crowed.

And he denied it again. And a little later those who stood by said to Peter again, Surely you are one of them; for you are a Galilean, and your speech agrees.

And a second time the rooster crowed. And Peter remembered the word that Jesus had said to him, Before the rooster crows twice, you will deny Me three times. And when he thought on it, he wept.

And having arrested Him, they led Him away and brought Him into the high priest's house. And Peter followed at a distance.

And a certain servant girl, seeing him as he sat by the fire, looked intently at him and said, This man was also with Him.

And after a little while another saw him and said, You also are of them. But Peter said, Man, I am not.

But Peter said, Man, I do not know what you are saying. Immediately, while he was still speaking, the rooster crowed.

Now Simon Peter stood and warmed himself. Therefore they said to him, Are you not also one of His disciples? He denied it and said, I am not.

Peter then denied again; and immediately a rooster crowed.

At my first defense no one stood with me, but all deserted me. May it not be reckoned against them.

But the Lord stood with me and strengthened me, so that the preaching of the message might be fulfilled through me, and that all the Gentiles might hear. And I was delivered out of the mouth of the lion.

And, behold, a great tempest arose on the sea, so that the boat was covered with the waves. But He was asleep.

And His disciples came to Him and awoke Him, saying, Lord, save us! We are perishing!

Arise, O Jehovah; deliver me, O my God; for You have struck all my enemies on the cheekbone. You have broken the teeth of the wicked.

I sink in deep mire, where there is no standing; I have come into deep waters, where the floods have overflowed me.

They reel to and fro, and stagger like a drunken man, and are at their wits' end.

He calms the storm, so that its waves are still.

The bands of death have encompassed me, and the distress of Sheol has fallen upon me; I found trouble and sorrow.

Then I called upon the name of Jehovah: O Jehovah, I beseech You, deliver my soul!

Waters flowed over my head; then I said, I am cut off.

You have heard my voice; do not hide Your ear from my relief, from my cry for help.

And he said, I cried out to Jehovah because of my distress, and He answered me. Out of the belly of Sheol I cried for help, and You heard my voice.

And I said, I am cast off from Your sight; yet I will again look to Your holy temple.

I went down to the bases of the mountains; the earth with her bars was about me forever. Yet You have brought up my life from the pit, O Jehovah my God.

And so that I should not be exalted above measure by the abundance of the revelations, a thorn in the flesh was given to me, a messenger of Satan that he might buffet me, that I should not be made haughty.

And He said to me, My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness. Therefore most gladly I will rather exult in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may dwell upon me.
