No one sews a piece of unshrunk cloth on an old garment; or else the new piece pulls away from the old, and the tear is made worse.

Then His brothers and His mother came, and standing outside they sent to Him, calling Him.

But He answered them, saying, Who is My mother, or My brothers?

For whoever does the will of God is My brother and My sister and mother.

And He said, To you it has been given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God, but to the rest in parables, that seeing they may not see, and hearing they may not understand.

Then His mother and brothers came to Him, and were not able to come up to Him through the crowd.

But He answered and said to them, My mother and My brothers are these who hear the Word of God and do it.

Is this not the carpenter's son? Is not His mother called Mary? And His brothers Jacob, Joses, Simon, and Judas?

Is this not the carpenter, the Son of Mary, and brother of Jacob, Joses, Judas, and Simon? And are not His sisters here with us? And they were offended at Him.

After this He went down to Capernaum, He, His mother, His brothers, and His disciples; and they stayed there not many days.

His brothers therefore said to Him, Depart from here and go into Judea, that Your disciples also may see the works that You do.

For neither did His brothers believe into Him.

But when His brothers had gone up, then He also went up to the feast, not openly, but as it were in secret.

These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with His brothers.

Do we not have the right to take along a believing wife, as do also the other apostles, the brothers of the Lord, and Cephas?

But I saw none of the other apostles except Jacob, the Lord's brother.
