Acts 11:1-18

Now the apostles and brethren who were in Judea heard that the Gentiles had also received the Word of God.

And when Peter came up to Jerusalem, those of the circumcision contended with him,

saying, You went in to uncircumcised men and ate with them!

But Peter explained it to them in order from the beginning, saying:

I was in the city of Joppa praying; and in a trance I saw a vision, an object descending like a great sheet, let down from heaven by four corners; and it came to me.

When I had fixed my eyes on it and considered, I saw four-footed animals of the earth, wild beasts, creeping things, and birds of the air.

And I heard a voice saying to me, Arise, Peter; kill and eat.
8
But I said, By no means, Lord, for nothing common or unclean has at any time entered into my mouth.
9
But the voice answered me again from Heaven, What God has cleansed do not consider unclean.
10
Now this was done three times, and the whole thing was drawn up again into heaven.
11
At that very moment, three men stood before the house where I was, having been sent to me from Caesarea.
12
Then the Spirit spoke to me to go with them without hestitating. Moreover these six brethren accompanied me, and we entered the man's house.
13
And he told us how he had seen an angel standing in his house, who said to him, Send men to Joppa, and send for Simon whose surname is Peter,
14
who will tell you words by which you and all your household will be saved.

And as I began to speak, the Holy Spirit fell upon them, as upon us at the beginning.

Then I remembered the Word of the Lord, how He said, John indeed immersed in water, but you shall be immersed in the Holy Spirit.

If therefore God gave them the same gift as He gave us who believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, who was I to be able to prevent God?

When they heard these things they kept silent; and they glorified God, saying, Then God has also granted to the Gentiles repentance unto life.

Then the king of Assyria brought people from Babylon, Cuthah, Ava, Hamath, and from Sepharvaim, and settled them in the cities of Samaria instead of the children of Israel; and they took possession of Samaria and dwelt in its cities.
25
And it was so, at the beginning of their dwelling there, that they did not fear Jehovah; therefore Jehovah sent lions among them, which killed some of them.
26
So they spoke to the king of Assyria, saying, The nations whom you have removed and placed in the cities of Samaria do not know the ordinances of the God of the land; therefore He has sent lions among them, and behold, they are killing them because they do not know the ordinances of the God of the land.
27
So the king of Assyria commanded, saying, Send there one of the priests whom you have brought from there; let him go and dwell there, and let him teach them the ordinances of the God of the land.
28
Then one of the priests whom they had carried away from Samaria came and dwelt in Bethel, and taught them how they should fear Jehovah.

However nation by nation they continued making gods of their own, and put them in the houses on the high places which those from Samaria had made, nation by nation in the cities where they were living.

The men of Babylon made Succoth Benoth, the men of Cuth made Nergal, the men of Hamath made Ashima,

and the Avites made Nibhaz and Tartak; and the Sepharvites burned their children in fire to Adrammelech and Anammelech, the gods of Sepharvaim.

So they feared Jehovah; and from among all of them they appointed for themselves priests of the high places, who attended to the houses of the high places for them.

They feared Jehovah, and also served their own gods; according to the manner of the nations from where they were carried away.
34
To this day they continue doing according to the former manner; they do not fear Jehovah, nor do they follow their statutes or their ordinances, or the Law and commandments which Jehovah has commanded the sons of Jacob, whom He had ordained with the name, Israel;
35
with whom Jehovah had made a covenant and charged them, saying: You shall not fear other gods, nor bow down to them nor serve them nor sacrifice to them;
36
but Jehovah, who has brought you up out of the land of Egypt with great power and an outstretched arm, Him you shall fear, to Him you shall bow down, and to Him you shall offer sacrifice.
37
And the statutes, the ordinances, the Law, and the commandments which He has written for you, you shall take heed to do forever; you shall not fear other gods.
38
And the covenant that I have made with you, you shall not forget, nor shall you fear other gods.
39
But Jehovah your God you shall fear; and He shall deliver you out of the hand of all your enemies.
40
However they have not obeyed, but are doing according to their former manner.
41
Thus these nations feared Jehovah, while also serving their graven images. And their children and their children's children have continued doing as their fathers have done, even to this day.
Luke 9:52-54

and sent messengers before His face. And as they went, they entered a village of the Samaritans, to prepare for Him.

But they did not receive Him, because His face was set for the journey to Jerusalem.

And when His disciples Jacob and John saw this, they said, Lord, do You want us to command fire to come down from Heaven and consume them, just as Elijah did?

And there was great joy in that city.

But there was a certain man called Simon, who previously used sorcery in the city and amazed the people of Samaria, claiming that he was someone great,

to whom they all gave heed, from the least to the greatest, saying, This man is the great power of God.

And they heeded him because he had amazed them with his sorceries for a long time.

But when they believed Philip as he preached the things concerning the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ, both men and women were immersed.
13
Then Simon himself also believed; and when he was immersed he continued with Philip, and was amazed, seeing the works of power and signs which were done.
14
Now when the apostles who were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the Word of God, they sent Peter and John to them,
15
who, when they had come down, prayed for them that they might receive the Holy Spirit.
16
For as yet He had not fallen on any of them. They had only been immersed in the name of the Lord Jesus.
17
Then they laid hands on them, and they received the Holy Spirit.
18
And when Simon saw that through the laying on of the apostles' hands the Holy Spirit was given, he offered them money,
19
saying, Give me this authority also, that anyone on whom I lay hands may receive the Holy Spirit.
20
But Peter said to him, Your money perish with you, because you thought that the gift of God could be purchased with money!
21
You have neither part nor portion in this matter, for your heart is not upright before God.
22
Repent therefore of this your wickedness, and pray God if perhaps the thought of your heart may be forgiven you.
23
For I see that you are in bitter wickedness and bound by unrighteousness.
24
Then Simon answered and said, Pray to the Lord for me, that none of the things which you have spoken may come upon me.
25
So when they had testified and preached the Word of the Lord, they returned to Jerusalem, preaching the gospel in many villages of the Samaritans.
