Genesis 38:1-10

It came to pass at that time that Judah departed from his brothers, and visited a certain Adullamite whose name was Hirah.

And Judah saw there a daughter of a certain Canaanite whose name was Shua, and he took her and went in to her.
3
And she conceived and bore a son, and he called his name Er.
4
She conceived again and bore a son, and she called his name Onan.
5
And she did so again and bore a son, and called his name Shelah. He was at Chezib when she bore him.

Then Judah took a wife for Er his firstborn, and her name was Tamar.

But Er, Judah's firstborn, was evil in the eyes of Jehovah, and Jehovah killed him.

And Judah said to Onan, Go in to your brother's wife and marry her, and raise up seed to your brother.

But Onan knew that the heir would not be his; and it came to pass, when he went in to his brother's wife, that he spoiled it on the ground, so as not to give seed to his brother.
10
And the thing which he did made the eye of Jehovah quiver; therefore He killed him also.
Genesis 46:12
The sons of Judah were Er, Onan, Shelah, Perez, and Zerah (but Er and Onan died in the land of Canaan). The sons of Perez were Hezron and Hamul.

The sons of Judah: Er, Onan, and Shelah. These three were born to him by the daughter of Shua, the Canaanitess. Er, the firstborn of Judah, was evil in the eyes of Jehovah, so He killed him.

And Tamar, his daughter-in-law, bore him Perez and Zerah. All the sons of Judah: five.

The sons of Perez: Hezron and Hamul.

The sons of Zerah: Zimri, Ethan, Heman, Calcol, and Dara; five.

The son of Carmi: Achar, the troubler of Israel, who had transgressed in the devoted thing.

The son of Ethan: Azariah.
