And she said to her, Is it a small matter that you have taken away my husband? Would you take away my son's mandrakes also? And Rachel said, Therefore he will lie with you tonight for your son's mandrakes.

When Jacob came out of the field in the evening, Leah went out to meet him and said, You must come in to me, for hiring I have hired you with my son's mandrakes. And he lay with her that night.

And God gave heed to Leah, and she conceived and bore Jacob a fifth son.
18
And Leah said, God has given me my wages, because I have given my maid to my husband. So she called his name Issachar.

And Leah conceived again and bore Jacob a sixth son.
20
And Leah said, God has endowed me with a good endowment; this time my husband will dwell with me, because I have borne him six sons. So she called his name Zebulun.
Genesis 35:17-26

And it came to pass, when she was in hard labor, that the midwife said to her, Do not fear; you shall have this son also.

And so it was, as her soul was departing (for she died), that she called his name Ben-Oni; but his father called him Benjamin.

And Rachel died and was buried on the way to Ephrath (which is Bethlehem).

And Jacob set a pillar on her grave, which is the pillar of Rachel's grave to this day.

Genesis 49:1-33

And Jacob summoned his sons and said, Gather around, that I may tell you what shall befall you in the last days:

Gather around and hear, you sons of Jacob, and listen to Israel your father.

Reuben, you are my firstborn, my might and the beginning of my strength, the excellency of dignity and the excellency of power.

Like bubbling water, you shall not excel, because you went up to your father's bed; then you defiled it; he went up to my couch.
5
Simeon and Levi are brothers; implements of violence are their weapons.
6
Let not my soul enter their council; let not my honor be united to their assembly; for in their anger they slew a man, and in their self-will they have hamstrung an ox.

Cursed is their anger, for it is fierce; and their wrath, for it is cruel! I will divide them in Jacob and scatter them in Israel.

Issachar is a strong donkey, lying down between two burdens.

He saw that the resting place was good, and that the land was pleasant. He bowed his shoulder to bear a burden, and became a servant to forced labor.

Dan shall judge his people as one of the tribes of Israel.

Dan shall be a serpent by the way, an adder by the path, that bites the horse's heels so that its rider shall fall backward.

I have waited for your salvation, O Jehovah.

Gad, a troop shall attack him, but he shall attack their heel.

Bread from Asher shall be rich, and he shall produce kings' delicacies.

Naphtali is a deer let loose; he utters beautiful words.

Benjamin is a ravenous wolf; in the morning he shall devour the prey, and at night he shall distribute the spoils.

All these are the twelve tribes of Israel, and this is what their father spoke to them. And he blessed them; he blessed each one according to his own blessing.

And he charged them and said to them: I am about to be gathered to my people. Bury me with my fathers in the cave that is in the field of Ephron the Hittite,

in the cave that is in the field of Machpelah, which is before Mamre in the land of Canaan, which Abraham bought with the field of Ephron the Hittite as a possession for a burial place.

There they buried Abraham and Sarah his wife, there they buried Isaac and Rebekah his wife, and there I buried Leah.

The field and the cave that is there were purchased from the sons of Heth.

And when Jacob had finished commanding his sons, he drew his feet up into the bed and expired, and was gathered to his people.
Exodus 1:2-5

Deuteronomy 33:1-29

Now this is the blessing with which Moses the man of God blessed the children of Israel before his death.

And he said: Jehovah has come from Sinai, and dawned on them from Seir; He has shone forth from Mount Paran, and He has come with ten thousands of saints; from His right hand a fiery Law for them.

Yes, He loves the people; all His saints are in Your hand; they sit down at Your feet; everyone receives Your Words.

Moses has commanded a Law for us, a heritage for the congregation of Jacob.
5
And he was king in Jeshurun, when the heads of the people were gathered, all the tribes of Israel together.
6
Let Reuben live, and not die, and let his men be numbered.
7
And this he said of Judah: Hear, Jehovah, the voice of Judah, and bring him to his people; let his hands be sufficient for him, and may You be a help against his enemies.
8
And of Levi he said: Let Your Thummim and Your Urim be with Your Godly man, whom You tested at Massah, and with whom You contended at the waters of Meribah;
9
who says of his father and mother, I have not seen them; nor has he acknowledged his brothers, or known his own children; for they have kept Your Word and guarded Your covenant.
10
They shall teach Jacob Your judgments, and Israel Your Law. They shall put incense before Your nose, and a whole burnt offering upon Your altar.
11
Bless his strength, O Jehovah, and accept the work of his hands; strike the loins of those who rise against him, and of those who hate him, that they rise not again.
12
Of Benjamin he said: The beloved of Jehovah shall dwell in safety by Him, who shelters him all the day long; and he shall dwell between His shoulders.
13
And of Joseph he said: Blessed of Jehovah is his land, with the excellence of the heavens, with the dew, and the deep lying beneath,
14
with the excellent yield of the sun, with the excellent produce of the months,
15
with the chief things of the ancient mountains, with the excellence of the enduring hills,
16
with the excellence of the earth and its fullness, and the favor of Him who dwelt in the bush; let it come upon the head of Joseph, and upon the crown of the head of him who was separated from his brothers.
17
His glory is like a firstborn bull, and his horns like the horns of the oryx; together with them He shall thrust the peoples to the ends of the earth; they are the ten thousands of Ephraim, and they are the thousands of Manasseh.

And of Zebulun he said: Rejoice, Zebulun, in your going out, and Issachar in your tents!
19
They shall call the peoples to the mountain; there they shall offer sacrifices of righteousness; for they shall suck of the abundance of the seas and of treasures hidden in the sand.
20
And of Gad he said: Blessed is he who enlarges Gad; he dwells as a lion, and tears the arm and the crown of the head.
21
He saw the first part for himself, because a lawgiver's portion was reserved there. He came with the heads of the people; he has administered the justice of Jehovah, and His judgments with Israel.
22
And of Dan he said: Dan is a lion's whelp; he shall leap from Bashan.
23
And of Naphtali he said: O Naphtali, satisfied with favor, and full of the blessing of Jehovah, possess the west and the south.
24
And of Asher he said: Asher is most blessed of sons; let him be acceptable to his brothers, and let him dip his foot in oil.
25
Your sandals shall be iron and bronze; as your days, so your strength.
26
There is no one like the Mighty God of Jeshurun, riding the Heavens for your help, and in His majesty upon the clouds.
27
The God of old is your refuge, and underneath are the eternal arms. He will thrust out the enemy before you, and say, Destroy!
28
And Israel shall dwell alone in safety, the fountain of Jacob in a land of grain and new wine; his heavens shall also drop dew.
29
Blessed are you, O Israel! Who is like you, a people saved by Jehovah, the shield of your help and the sword of your majesty! Your enemies shall cower before you, and you shall tread down their high places.
Revelation 7:4-8

And I heard the number of those who were sealed: One hundred and forty-four thousand of all the tribes of the children of Israel were sealed.

Of the tribe of Judah twelve thousand were sealed; of the tribe of Reuben twelve thousand were sealed; of the tribe of Gad twelve thousand were sealed;

of the tribe of Asher twelve thousand were sealed; of the tribe of Naphtali twelve thousand were sealed; of the tribe of Manasseh twelve thousand were sealed;

of the tribe of Simeon twelve thousand were sealed; of the tribe of Levi twelve thousand were sealed; of the tribe of Issachar twelve thousand were sealed;
