Now if You kill these people as one man, then the nations which have heard of Your fame will speak, saying,

Because Jehovah was not able to bring this people to the land which He swore to give them, therefore He killed them in the wilderness.

And now, I beseech You, let the power of my Lord be great, just as You have spoken, saying,

Jehovah is longsuffering and abundant in mercy, forgiving iniquity and transgression; but not acquitting to leave the guilty unpunished, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the sons to the third and fourth generation.

Pardon the iniquity of this people, I pray, according to the greatness of Your mercy, just as You have borne this people, from Egypt even until now.

And Jehovah said: I have pardoned, according to your word;

but truly, as I live, all the earth shall be filled with the glory of Jehovah;

because all these men seeing My glory and the signs which I have done in Egypt and in the wilderness, and tested Me now these ten times, and have not heeded My voice,

they shall not see the land of which I have sworn to their fathers, nor shall any of those who rejected Me see it.

Or shall there be three days of plague in your land? Now consider and see what word I shall take back to Him who sent me.

And David said to Gad, I am in great distress. Let us fall now into the hand of Jehovah, for His mercies are great; but do not let me fall into the hand of man.

So Jehovah sent a plague upon Israel from the morning till the appointed time. From Dan to Beer-sheba seventy thousand men of the people died.

And when the Angel stretched out His hand over Jerusalem to destroy it, Jehovah was moved to compassion regarding the evil, and said to the Angel who was destroying the people, Enough! Now restrain your hand. And the Angel of Jehovah was by the threshing floor of Araunah the Jebusite.

Then David spoke to Jehovah when he saw the Angel who was striking the people, and said, Surely I have sinned, and I have committed iniquity; but these sheep, what have they done? Let Your hand, I pray, be against me and against my father's house.
