For, behold, He who forms mountains and creates the wind and declares to man what his thought is, He who makes the dawn darkness, and treads on the high places of the earth; Jehovah the God of Hosts, is His name.

He who made the Pleiades and Orion, and turns the deep darkness into morning, and darkens the day into night; who calls for the waters of the sea and pours them out on the face of the earth, Jehovah is His name;

They meet with darkness by day, and grope at midday as in the night.

For the stars of the heavens and their constellations shall not give light; the sun shall be darkened in its going forth, and the moon shall not shine its light.

Wait and wonder! Smear you eyes shut, blind! They have become drunk, but not with wine; they stagger, but not with strong drink.

For Jehovah has poured out upon you the spirit of deep sleep, and has closed your eyes; He has covered the prophets and your heads, the seers.

Therefore justice is far from us; nor does righteousness overtake us. We wait for daylight, but behold, the night; for brightness, but we walk in darkness.

We grope for the wall like the blind, and we grope as if we had no eyes. We stumble at noonday as in the night; we are in desolate places like dead men.

She who bore seven languishes; she has breathed out her life; her sun has gone down while it was yet day. She has been ashamed and confounded; and I will deliver the rest of them to the sword before their enemies, says Jehovah.

Therefore the night shall be to you without vision; and darkness without divining. And the sun shall go down on the prophets, and the day shall be dark over them.

And immediately after the affliction of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken.

And I looked when He opened the sixth seal, and behold, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became like blood.

Then the fourth angel sounded: And a third of the sun was struck, a third of the moon, and a third of the stars, so that a third of them were darkened. A third of the day did not shine, and likewise the night.

And Jehovah said to Moses, Stretch out your hand toward the heavens, that there may be darkness over the land of Egypt, darkness which may even be felt.

They did not see one another; nor did anyone rise from his place for three days. But all the children of Israel had light in their dwellings.

Now from the sixth hour until the ninth hour there was darkness over all the land.

And when the sixth hour had come, there was darkness over the whole land until the ninth hour.

Now it was about the sixth hour, and there was darkness over all the earth until the ninth hour.
