Jehovah roars from Zion, and He utters His voice from Jerusalem. And the heavens and the earth quake. But Jehovah is a refuge for His people and a fortress to the sons of Israel.

Jehovah thundered from the heavens, and the Most High uttered His voice.

He sent out arrows and scattered them; lightning bolts, and He discomfited them.

The nations raged, the kingdoms were shaken; He uttered His voice, the earth melted.

And it shall come to pass in that day that Jehovah shall whistle for the fly at the ends of the rivers of Egypt, and for the bee that is in the land of Assyria.

The sound of a multitude in the mountains, as of many people! A tumultuous sound of the kingdoms of nations gathered together! Jehovah of Hosts musters the army for battle.

Jehovah goes forth as a mighty man, He stirs up zeal like a man of war; He shouts, yea, roars; He shows Himself mighty against His enemies.

Therefore prophesy against them all these Words, and say to them, Jehovah shall roar from on high, and utter His voice from His holy habitation. He shall mightily roar over His dwelling place. He shall give a shout, like those who tread out grapes, against all the inhabitants of the earth.

And he said: Jehovah will roar from Zion and utter His voice from Jerusalem. And the pastures of the shepherds shall mourn, and the top of Carmel shall dry up.

Their Redeemer is strong; Jehovah of Hosts, is His name. He shall thoroughly plead their case, that he may give rest to the land, and disquiet the inhabitants of Babylon.

Therefore her plagues will come in one day; death and mourning and famine. And she will be consumed with fire, for strong is the Lord God who judges her.

Alas! For that day is great, so that none is like it; it is even the time of Jacob's trouble; but he shall be saved out of it.

Woe to those who desire the day of Jehovah! Of what good is this to you? The day of Jehovah is darkness, and not light.

Is not the day of Jehovah darkness, and not light; even very dark, and not any brightness in it?

That day is a day of wrath, a day of trouble and distress, a day of desolation and ruin, a day of darkness and gloom, a day of clouds and thick darkness,

And he took up his parable and said: Alas! Who shall live when the Mighty God brings this to pass?

Who can stand before His indignation? And who can endure His burning anger? His wrath is poured out like fire, and the rocks are broken down because of Him.

But who can endure the day of His coming? And who will stand when He appears? For He is like a refiner's fire and like fuller's soap.

For the great day of His wrath has come, and who is able to stand?
