And Jehovah gave Israel a savior, so that they escaped from under the hand of the Syrians; and the children of Israel dwelt in their tents as before.

But Jehovah was gracious to them, had compassion on them, and regarded them, because of His covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and would not yet destroy them or cast them from His presence.

He restored the territory of Israel from the entrance of Hamath to the sea of the plain, according to the Word of Jehovah the God of Israel, which He had spoken through His servant Jonah the son of Amittai, the prophet who was from Gath Hepher.

And Jehovah had not spoken to blot out the name of Israel from under the heavens; but He saved them by the hand of Jeroboam the son of Joash.

Many times He delivered them; but they rebelled in their counsel, and were brought low for their iniquity.

and remembered His covenant toward them, and was moved to compassion according to the abundance of His mercies.

Behold, blessed is the man whom God corrects; therefore do not despise the chastening of the Almighty.

Blessed is the man whom You correct, O YAH, and teach out of Your Law,

My son, do not reject the chastening of Jehovah, and do not loathe His correction;

And you have forgotten the exhortation which speaks to you as to sons: My son, do not despise the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when you are rebuked by Him.

As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten. Therefore be zealous and repent.

Why do the nations rage, and the peoples devise a vain thing?

How long will you assail a man? You shall be slain, all of you, like a bowing wall and a tottering fence.

The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked; who can know it?

What are you plotting against Jehovah? He will make a complete end of it; affliction shall not rise up a second time.

who by the mouth of Your servant David have said: Why did the nations rage, and the people devise vain things?

because, although they know God, they do not glorify Him as God, nor are thankful, but become vain in their reasonings, and their stupid hearts are darkened.

casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity unto the obedience of Christ,
