The fear of man brings a snare, but whoever puts his trust in Jehovah shall be exalted.

Nevertheless even among the rulers many believed into Him, but because of the Pharisees they did not confess Him, that they might not be put out of the synagogue;

for they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God.

Moreover, when you fast, do not be like the hypocrites, with a sad countenance. For they disfigure their faces that they may appear to men to be fasting. Truly I say to you, they have their reward.

so that you do not appear to men to be fasting, but to your Father who is in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly.
