But he rebelled against him by sending his ambassadors to Egypt, that they might give him horses and many people. Will he prosper? Will he who does such things escape? Can he break a covenant and still be delivered?

As I live, declares the Lord Jehovah, surely in the place where the king dwells who made him king, whose oath he despised and whose covenant he broke, there he shall die with him in the midst of Babylon.

2 Kings 25:1-7

Thus it came to pass in the ninth year of his reign, in the tenth month, on the tenth of the month, that Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon and all his forces came against Jerusalem and encamped against it; and they built a siege wall against it all around.

And the city was besieged until the eleventh year of King Zedekiah.

By the ninth day of the fourth month the famine was so severe in the city that there was no food for the people of the land.

And the city was broken into, and all the men of war fled at night by way of the gate between the two walls, which was by the king's garden, even though the Chaldeans were encamped all around against the city. And the king went the way toward the plain.

And the army of the Chaldeans pursued the king, and they overtook him in the plains of Jericho; and all his army was scattered from him.
6
So they took the king and brought him up to the king of Babylon at Riblah, and they pronounced judgment upon him.
7
And they killed the sons of Zedekiah before his eyes, put out the eyes of Zedekiah, bound him with bronze fetters, and brought him to Babylon.
Jeremiah 52:3-11

For although the anger of Jehovah was upon Jerusalem and Judah (until He had cast them out from His presence), Zedekiah rebelled against the king of Babylon.

And the king of Babylon killed the sons of Zedekiah before his eyes. He also killed all the rulers of Judah in Riblah.

And he put out the eyes of Zedekiah. And the king of Babylon bound him in chains, and brought him to Babylon, and put him in prison till the day of his death.
